  1. What should I update? Fortunately both the plane and I made it through the checkride
  2. Looks like this is definitely an alternator or voltage regulator issue. I had my CFI checkride on Wednesday and the ammeter was going nuts most of the time, showing both positive and negative charges (mostly negative), so hopefully we've found the ultimate culprit.
  3. All - seems to get worse with higher RPM and we don't have anything plugged into any of the aux power outlets
  4. Thanks Sherman - I was thinking the same originally, but now that the clock seems normal with the landing light on I wasn't sure if it might still be the culprit
  5. Steven, we had our landing light replaced (with an incandescent one while we wait for our LED to be delivered) last week, but the static existed before that. I'm not sure however if the static disappeared when the old landing light was turned on. Otherwise I don't think the static coincided with any other changes/modifications/installs
  6. So this one has both me and our avionics guy really kind of confused. We've been chasing some radio static that appears to somehow electrical in nature. We assume this because at random intervals along with the static the in-panel clock blinks/flashes/resets (see video below). Although we haven't put a ton of time into chasing down the problem I noticed yesterday that the static (and the clock flashing/resetting/blinking) stops when the landing light is turned ON. Does this make sense to anyone?
  7. All - thank you so much for your input, as always the Mooneyspace folks have exceeded our expectations!
  8. All - wanted to reach out to the collective and see if anyone could help make sure an interior quote we've received is complete in terms of what an "average/typical" (yes, I know those are very subjective terms) interior should include. My partners and I have never been through an interior project and want to be aware of any gottchas or know about items we've missed that should be included. So far the quote contains: -Stripping of existing plastic paint -Covering the plastic with fabric -Covering the glareshield -Reweb seatbelts -Seat upholstery and new headrests -Wall kick panels -Carpet -New door seals -Full soundproofing Thoughts/comments appreciated! Thanks!
  9. Quote: jetdriven If the RPM wanders or hunts, or is sluggish to respond to changes it needs to be looked at. FWIW McCauley C290D governor TBO is recommended at like 6 years. But thats ridiculous. We did ours at ten years only because it had metal contamination. What model is your plane?
  10. Hi all - we recently had a prop shop in Lancaster recommend an overhaul for our prop based on two factors a) a couple of knicks in the prop and the time since last overhaul (about 12 years ago). During a subsequent oil change our normal shop (Airmods), whose opinion I respect tremendously, didn't think the prop condition was even a slight concern and cleaned up the knicks in the prop in about 10 minutes. However, this did get me thinking - what indications might be apparent that the governor is in need of an overhaul? Will there be any conditions/signs/etc that might give it away? Any specific inspection recommendations?
  11. Makes me think about cutting up my certificate and just staying grounded...I really don't want to share the same airspace as this jackass
  12. Quote: N9154V What is the ball doing? At low altitude and high power settings, I have to push left rudder to get straight and level flight. My plane is rigged so that it is completely hands off at altitude. Ron with a 69F
  13. All, See the attached pic, I'd like to get your thoughts. We have an issue and my A&P will take a look at it when he gets back from a trip but wanted to see what the collective thought in the meantime. The picture below shows the plane in straight and level flight. The attitude indicator is level (which is correct) and the DG is not moving. However, the TC would indicate something much different. The effect seems to be more pronounced at higher speeds as a little while after this pic was taken the TC leveled out while I was slowing down and descending for the approach phase of my flight. The plane does in fact roll right if we go hands off but the ball does not move to any significant degree. So is the TC indication demonstrative of the actual roll that is somehow being corrected by yaw (even though the ball doesn't move much) and tied to the rigging? Or is it probably the TC gyros? Jason
  14. Quote: N4352H I have had 4 balances a 1 OH from Sensenich over the years....never an issue. I took the OH back for a 10 minute shimming. This is typical. When I eventually order my Top Prop, I will support this shop. 80 yards next door to Henry Weber, MSC. http://www.sensenichpropellers.com/Main.html?FAQ.html
