  4. Now that is cool ........
  5. The Ram air is also a source of alt air....
  6. No offense , but I would be apprehensive at best , to use a guy that sells himself that cheap.......No way he carries insurance at that rate , and I remember bidding on a Bravo that an uninsured mechanic torched taking out a wing screw with a screw gun....Caveat emptor....
  7. Dan I bought My S for 45K , after I put in a 530W Sandel and an interior , I'm all in for 60K , What did the GX set you back.....And no offense But I will beat you on the NY to Miami trip , because I am flying Delta for 200 round trip.......No way I am sitting in a Beech , Mooney , or Cirrus for 5 hours ......Cheers....
  8. Cant you just carry less fuel in the Acclaim to compensate??
  9. I do , but if you don't have the PC system already installed , I would advise against it as the mounting brackets in the wings would be almost impossible to install.....To start from scratch I would bite the bullet and go with an STEC or Century......
  10. The Ovation is the opposite of this comparison , as the "S" is less than the cost of the "J" , and the "O" is more than the "S" , That being said the Ovation is definitely faster than the "S" but the "S" still has the advantage w/payload and space......I would think that the economy would be a lot closer with the "O" than the "J" as the "J"s economy is stellar...... I have to agree with Byron , in the respect , that the Beech controls are a lot more intuitive .....on long flights the Mooney is a lot more work to hand fly , I think if I had aileron trim on the Mooney , that would almost be a non comparison , The Beech is a lot more easy to fly in the respect that it is heavier and the shorter wing with a fatter airfoil....this makes it a lot easier to land and handle in adverse conditions.....From a maintnence perspective they are both very reliable , There are so many Bonanzas out there , in two years I only had to buy one part from Beech everything else was either generic , or available used , (there are a ton of used Bonanza parts I think they made about ten thousand airframes) .....I have been lucky with the Mooney also , 80 hours last year and no squawks ...NONE ..... I am going to replace the rod ends on the nose doors and the nose steering link , but that is because I want NO play , the IA said they were OK....
  11. Yea Mike , where is that video.......And by the way , I didnt have to go around on my return sunday!!!!!! Ha Ha !!!!!! And the Beech is a lot easier to handle , and more stable......
  12. The job is quoted at the rate of a single tech , if more than one man works on it , it gets done quicker, for the price quoted.......If your tech wont quote a price before the job , find a new one.......I.E. If continental rebuilds your engine , they have a quoted price.....No matter how many people work on it...
  13. Bottom line , The beech is bigger , carries more weight , and is faster.......argue that.....Oh and I forgot , cheaper to buy....
  14. Also an IO 550 has much better fuel specifics than a IO360 , but I guess that doesnt matter either.....
  15. I have the luxury of owning both , unfortunately I dont have the patience to run either aircraft at 60% so the point is moot , I just thought that you guys might enjoy this....Sorry . I guess I was wrong.........
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGzv9NCZ-cA Interesting Vid....
  17. Paint stripper is really the only thing that works , figure on spending about 40 to 50 hours per side , The first coat removes the most , paint it on with a paint brush and let it sit a day . buy the .99 cent PLASTIC spatulas from home depot , after the 5th coat removes almost nothing , get a 3500 psi pressure washer to clean out the old stripper .... Then buy bladders , because you just wasted two weeks of your life......
