  1. It is very rare that the salvage bids are worth repairing , generally the only parts that move quickly are the generic parts that are not make / model specific...... Most of the Mooney specific parts from the last Mooney I parted were sold to Lasar , or are still in my possession , That being said , I stilled pulled over 30K from a 63 C model , (corrosion on wing spar) .........
  2. The insurance term for the aircraft being worth "less" because of the repaired damage is "diminished value" and they do not pay for it ....sometimes its better when they total it..
  3. If you read my quote I mentioned "Appraised value" This will be the benchmark the company uses to either repair , or purchase the damaged aircraft.....Assuming that the other plane even has insurance......
  4. Dave in general any time a skin has to be replaced , the wing has to be removed and jigged to be done correctly ...... Big money......
  5. Bottom line , If you only have 30 K of insurance and it hit the rear spar it is going to be totaled out , it will total out at 70% of the insured value , The wing , labor , and paint work will be over 20 K ... lets hope it didn't go that far , if the spar is OK I have an aileron from a 63 C you can have for 450.00 if it will fit.....Good luck.... Also even if the other owners insurance covers it , it will be valued at appraised value , which may be more or less than 30K and if they total it you get a check and they get the plane.....which will go out for bid , and probably end up with Wentworth , or Beegles.....
  6. The problem is the universal joints on the worm shaft are binding , they are accessible from the bottom by removing the service belly panels rear of the trim wheel , you don't have to replace them , just soak them real well with penetrant until they free up , it is the two closest to the trim wheel with the biggest angle......
  7. The surging is the fuel boiling in the spider and lines , At idle there is not enough pressure in the lines to keep it from boiling , that is why it goes away when you add enough power, perfectly normal , annoying as hell.....
  8. And as I said Tony I am so jealous of your airplane......
  9. If that's the case genius , why didn't you get a field approval...
  10. You got your peanut butter in my chocolate....
  11. Actually , you are worthless Mr Armstead , Mr Stallings will sell the stc , or it can be installed under a field approval...... Who would approve your sorry self...
  12. No sir you are wrong Russell will sell the STC mister expert..... I think you are worthless......
  13. Well I guess you are the expert......Perhaps I should lower the price to 5000.00 Bottom line is I can part it out for more than 30K and I will if it comes to that..... I can easily get 10 K for the cowl , 10 K for the engine , 2.5 for the prop , 3 K for the bladders , 1200 for the gear pucks and stacks , 600 for the main wheels and brakes , 4 K for electronics , another 6 K misc ..... I will not sell it for less than the value of its parts......
  14. Actually It never sat outside until I owned it , and my worthless engine is running just fine, amazing that you guys can kick the tires from 3000 miles away.....And I bought it from the guy who bought it in the 80s..... My crappy narco radios work great , and the airports havent moved since my "Jurrassic" gps was installed.....You guys definitely entertain me......
  15. Lets see ....Hmmmmmmm 5K less , 10K cowl , Bladders , JPI , 100 SMOH .... Tony you should definitely buy that C for 40 K ........Its calling you.....
  16. Another member is looking to upgrade the stacktubes to accept the lord style gear donuts , when I did mine I paid 300 for all three minus the rubber donuts......Any parts mongers want to sell the main stack tubes and collars for a reasonable price????? Any model from 66 to 76 will work.........
  17. Oh gawd ......I am BOTH!!!!!!
  18. Actually its a little more complicated than that , I read a ten or 12 page article explaining speeds and flutter , and you seriously would need an engineering and math degree to begin to comprehend it .... I just don't approach the red line in any plane........
  19. Actually Beech fixed the tails with a Mod , and they don't come off anymore , they never did unless the plane was flown outside of the published envelope......Fly any plane outside of its envelope and it will bite you ANY !!!!!
  20. Not trying to be a Jerk , (but succeeding anyway) The objective is to sell an airplane , I hope he gets all the money , I know I cant.....more power to him.....
  21. No you would need A KI202 , KI204 , KI207 , KNI520 , GI106 , , I do Have a kni 520 I could let go for 250.00 , Regards Alan
  22. The BN2 (islander) is going to be the most cost efficient , both in acquisition , and in maintenence , Even if the others are 60 + knots faster on a 80 mile trip the difference is nominal as the approach and climb out will eat up approx. 40% of the mission , The problem as I see it is the weather aspect , as far as I know there are no precision approaches , and because of the SFRA you will always be under radar control , I don't think it will be (reliable) enough to be Viable.....
