  1. A Rocket is still a 231 , just a faster heavier one....
  2. The heim bearings on the short link are a big item as far as contributing to "slop" This will probably take away most of it...
  3. There are 2 left in their original configuration.....I actually have a POH for a D model.......I don't believe I will ever be able to sell it..
  4. Dont know why but the Kings and Narcos are just better com radios than the Garmins , Every plane I have ever had with both , when I am on the fringes , the king gets picked up 5 to 10 miles earlier than the Garmins.... The Garmins probably have better MTBF times than the older radios , but I personally have never had a Radio fail on me.....
  5. Why would Garmin pay for an 8 year old antenna , stuff breaks......It is silly to even think they should..... They are a company that is in business to make money......
  6. Actually its up to the guy signing the logbook , its also his ass....
  7. Five boxes of avionics , including 175 ga56 gps antennas...... Set of Beech ruddervators enroute to the paint shop.....
  8. Just so you all know , a common failure of the gear is it rusts between the pucks and the stack tubes , If your plane still has the goodyear pucks and stack tubes , your mechanic is doing you a dis service , no matter what they measure , They haven't made the goodyear pucks since the 70s.......
  9. The screens are no longer available , your GPS is toast.....Buy a used one and slide it in....
  10. Talk about throwing money into a bottomless pit.......... Strike that , my trophy wife is rarely "bottomless"
  11. That panel is not as basic as it looks , King HSI and KFC200 A.P. good stuff....
  12. Who is interested in splitting fuel for a VFR trip , 4 day weekend in my plane , to sun n fun , You fly from the right seat , I sleep in the left seat.... and No Stinky pants.... I dont want bird poop on the inside of my plane....its bad enough on the top....
  13. I will probably be flying to Spruce Creek , and commuting to lakeland by air..... We should all do a dinner or something....
  14. When I did the wing fillets on my B model , I secured them with screws and washers , Not as pretty , but can be removed for service / paint , same with the cowl closure.....
  15. I was'nt singleing you out , Tony , just stating what is out there , There are 30K planes and 60K planes , there is definitely a difference....
  16. The problem in general is that a buyer , especially an inexperienced one , will expect the plane to be 100% , 99% of them are not , So they go through the negotiations before the prebuy expecting the seller to pay for everything , In my experience , I have done the negotioations with the understanding that negotiation is closed and the prebuy will determine the sale or non sale of the aircraft.... Its OK not to buy the aircraft , With most buyers the first year of searching for an aircraft , is really "tire kicking" learning whats out there , and what to expect..... There are definite reasons that similar aircraft may be 20 , 30 , or even 50 K difference in asking price...
  17. Just curious who is going this year?????
  18. I would not buy a plane and sell it for a thousand dollar profit , I can make that buying and selling a GPS with no exposure......I have learned my lesson though , Take em apart and sell the pieces......Much more profitable....
  19. Most posts on here are unsubstantiated , use you own judgment...
  20. I had read in a Larry Ball book , that Mooney had reliability issues with the 4cyl lycoming turbos ,they tested it and moved on to the continental , as far as I know the only factory install of a 4 cyl lycoming turbo is the Twin Commanche ,
  21. I personally would stick with the K model , when Mooney designed the turbo , they decided to go with the 6 cyl continental , because of reliability issues with the 4 cyl turbos , in my opinion if Mooney feels that the 4 cyl turbo is not a good option , I'm not going aftermarket..... I have also spoken to MSCs and was told that a 231 was a better option than a rocket conversion , as they are built better and the maintainence problems outweighed the performance gains....
  22. Was going to Ovid and programmed the wrong ID in the GPS , ended up at Genneseo about a hundred miles away , I knew I screwed up when the runway was 5000 feet of turf , instead of 2000 feet of asphalt , Landed there anyway , ended up getting a tour of a hanger that had a DC3 , B26 , B17 , and everything in between ...... was a cool mistake........
  23. You said 4 seat airplane , Keep in mind that our Mooneys are on the low side as far as useful load , most being in the 8 to 900 lb range , If four seats being filled is the rule and not the exception , you might want to do some due diligence and reconsider your mission , or the hardware ,
  24. Actually you could trim out the elevators if that were the case , I would be more concerned about them being out of balance , which can cause flutter in extreme circumstances.....
  25. I would leave it alone , the only one that notices it is you .....did you talk to Mathison ? they do some extreme sheet metal work , and are local...
