  1. There is no difference between electric or vacuum. Jose
  2. The Monroy Long range tanks can be installed with either vacuum or electric speed brakes. José Monroy
  3. Pilot relief tube is the best mod I had. No need to worry about drops on your pants because the suction is very effective
  4. More reliable than a vacuum pump is a venturi tube https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/venturi2.php. Used in the early gyro systems. You can backup your vacuum pump with a venturi tube instead of another pump.
  5. On a lightning strike I lost all the alternator diodes so lost the alternator and so the electric turn coordinator power source but continued with the vacuum driven attitude indicator and a flash light.
  6. Lightning strike usually happens at the prop which can induce a high voltage spike at the alternator that can kill the alternator diodes and electronic equipment such as electronic attitude indicators. Vacuum systems are not affected by lightning.
  7. One feature of the GNS 530 I like is that the COM/NAV frequencies for each airport are already stored in the unit easy to retrieve without the need of charts.
  8. A Turn Coordinator together with a VSI makes an excellent backup for an attitude indicator. By having a vacuum driven gyro you have two different sources of power for attitude indication, specially if you are hit by lightning in IFR conditions.
  9. I have been based at KFXE for 40 years and have no complains. Plenty of facilities , shops and good people.
  10. Check with Mani Vicioso at Premier/KFXE at tel 786 457 3157. He does my annuals and is very familiar with Mooneys.
  11. Your landlord is fully responsible for fixing the hole and your plane. Show them the pictures.
  12. My home base is at KFXE which is near to KPBI. Every time Mr. Trump is in the area a TFR zone is issued. I only know of the TFR on my Garmin Pilot Samsung cell phone. Is there anyway of displaying the TFR on my 530W? Are TFR warnings issued on ADSB ground stations? Would the GTX 345 provide TFR data to my GNS530W?
  13. But, but no pilot relief tube oohhh!!. Back to the bottle, just don't miss the cap underneath the seat.
  14. Does the GTX 345 will provide TFRs depiction to a GNS 530W? Currently I get WX and TFrs on my Samsung cell phone using the Garmin Pilot application.
  15. A friend of mine has one of these portables in his Mooney hanging from the coat hanger and works very well on the ground but it has to be turned off once you reach altitude or you will freeze. For $89.00 is a good deal. https://consumertrustedreviews.com/this-portable-ac-is-selling-out-every-week-bing-search/
  16. Missing segments failure is common on these radios. It can be easily fix by removing very carefully the display from the PCB and bending down the contacts and cleaning them with contact cleaner. This is a very delicate job so make sure you have a magnifying lamp and small tweezers.
  17. On a TCAS II system if both aircraft are TCAS equipped the RA issued is opposite maneuvers for each aircraft one is told to climb and the other to descend when they are close to the same altitude. The TCAS software takes into consideration altitude and climb performance to determine which aircraft is to climb.
  18. No COVID 19 on your Ovation but 11 hours by train for sure someone had it have the test done.
  19. I use a portable tank that last 8 hours at 20,000 feet. I filled up with oxygen only at local SCUBA shop that has Nitrox capability for $15.00. Not a bad deal.
  20. Has anyone tried portable oxygen concentrators. No need to refill. www. inogen.com
  21. If you are going to have cup holders have one of this pilot relief installed.
  22. Wash the transducer with carburetor cleaner.
  23. On my trips to Northen Europe I avoid stopping at Narsarsuaq, fuel is expensive and not always available. When travelling to Madrid LEMD I go via Santa Maria LPAZ. In the old days before GPS I home in into the LPAZ NDB, LORAN C just barely worked at the time. Be ware that the LPAZ routing requires HF. People at Santa Maria (Portugal territory) are very friendly.
  24. I chose the UBG-16 because the display head can be separated from the main body to allow installing the head where there is no backroom. It just replaced the factory EGT.
  25. The airport was 18AZ Sky Ranch at Carefree, well within range with a suitable runway. Wonder if the plane had a moving map GPS depicting all nearby airports.
