  1. Ear plugs together with passive headsets works better than ANR headsets and is cheaper, try it.
  2. An option that works very well for me when going to Plum, PA is the use of de-icing coatings like https://www.amazon.com/DuPont-Teflon-Snow-Ice-Repellant/dp/B0031T82NO?th=1.
  3. For de-icing most Bonanzas are equipped with the factory de-icing boots option. Unlike TKS, boots have unlimited use endurance and no need to refill TKS fluid. Boots are quicker on removing ice. https://www.iceshield.com/Products/Kits
  4. But, but what is the code for COVID-19 vaccination?
  5. I use boat hatch seals. If they can keep water out from sinking your boat they are good for me. They are much cheaper and available in every boat store. These seals have to withstand a more hostile environment than in a airplane environment. https://www.bing.com/shop?q=west+marine+hatch+seal&FORM=SHOPPA&originIGUID=05AAB0C135294F16B29C8287E2D5DC28
  6. I use this to keep mice away, very effective. I just place it next to the tire
  7. I have not seen any stains on my plane or my neighbor's Baron 58. I have peed under icing conditions with no problem. Keep in mind that the urine temp is 98F and will de-ice the ice on the venturi. Aircraft Spruce sell funnels with an integral valve for pressurized planes. This facilitates removing your pipi from the funnel.

  10. A pilot relief is a must on long flights. Unlike pee bottles that you have to empty upon arrival. I Have the funnel and hose stored under the seat. I use a blanket on top for privacy. The hose is long enough for passengers use. The venturi on the belly creates suction on the funnel so no dripping happens when a female or male use it.
  11. A strong source of interference could be the DME when tuned by the NAV receiver to an specific frequency. Pull the DME circuit breaker out and check the GPS.
  12. Where are you located? I have a 1982 M20J with no speed brakes but long range tanks for sale.
  13. Wonder if there was moving map navigator onboard, it will definitely help with the approach. My sympathies for the family.
  14. Thanks for all the good wishes. Still recovering from a stroke two years ago. As soon I am better I will be back on business doing tank kits. Wish you all Merry Xmas. Jose
  15. Back in the mid 70s I had a chance to study the radio telescope on site while on my electrical engineering program (BSEE). I spent a week getting familiar with the intricacies and operation of it. At the time I was also a Star Trek fan so I was tuning in for Klingons

  17. It appears that the pilot tried to arrest the descent by pitching up. This causes the plane to slow down and loose controllability to keep the wings level. An engine failure probability on a twin is twice that of a single. To make things worse engine failures are most probable during high stress situations like on take off and climb.
  18. Were these planes in a locked hangar or out on the ramp?
  19. When you fill up all the long bodies with long range tanks to the top skin surface they will make 130+ gallons total. Some of the early long bodies have conduits at the filler hole that inhibit filling quickly to the top , thus limiting the amount of fuel you can put in. The table below shows the different fuel capacities. All of them are with speed brakes installed.
  20. Rubber ear plugs together with conventional headsets provides very good noise attenuation at a fraction of the cost of the Halos or Bose.
  21. A watch is no good if it can not tell you time reliably all the time, specially in remote areas like Mona island. I had the above Citizen watch for 16 years and never had a problem with it. It charge it battery with ambient light. No AC charging, no winding, no battery replacement, no sunlight required. Perfect for the international traveller. The new models can set time by GPS.
  22. My flight instructor prefers the summer outfit it provides the best cooling.
  23. I always rent a compact car at the FBO. More comfortable, specially under rain, carrying a lot of baggage and my wife.
  24. Still recovering, thanks José
