How to cover hole from ADF Antenna?
Old Chub replied to Skates97's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
This would be your call but my GPS/COM antennas covered the old com and antenna and the old location of the non-waas gps antenna so I had no additional patches. Our brand new aircraft that we produce here at the company I work for uses the GPS/COM antennas on Garmin installations. I believe you will find the GPS/COM antennas meet the same TSO as the antennas called out by Garmin in their II's. -
How to cover hole from ADF Antenna?
Old Chub replied to Skates97's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
For Lithium 366 "My plan is to move VHF to the belly and use this spot for Dynon GPS antenna but I am not sure how involved this will be assuming I will need to fix VHF antenna holes first." You may want to look into a GPS/COM antenna combo like I did. I don't like punching any more holes in the fuselage skin than I absolutely have to. I have two GPS/COM antennas on top in the same positions you show for your two antennas (one com and one GPS). -
Rivnuts installed with pro-seal (MIL-S-8802) or equivalent and used the rivnut notching tool for use with the keyed rivnuts. Not a great photo but you get the idea.

For others looking I have a couple of these units for sale. PM me with any questions. Old Chub.

"I have lemo plugs in my plane, so does the A20. However, I tried the 2 plug adapter but I only get sound on one ear. Probably a mono/stereo thing. Maybe I am doing something wrong. " The A20 is selectable between Mono and Stereo. If you remove your batteries in the pendant there are little dip switched located in the bottom of the battery slot that you can switch between stereo and mono input to the headset.

I have several bottles in my hanger at Hicks (t67) and your welcome to take one and use it if you need a quick fix for the weekend. Warren

I have A20's with a lemo and I use the twin plug adapter in my C model. I intend to install Lemo jacks for them when I upgrade the panel. Unlike the previous model the A20's all have the same pendant and can hold batteries (A10 Lemo had a small pendant that did not allow you to power so you would have to use a separate box if using A10s Lemo plug with twin plug adapter). I have had no issues with using the GA twin plug adapter with my A20's

I guess I should take my recently reproduced OPP up and down locks and throw them in the trash... This is nonsense. With all of the areas discussed regarding OPP to include McFarland and others how can anyone make such definitive statements. Also, does anyone have any data to show these are not acceptable parts as I have not heard anything that would make me think otherwise. On another note if someone wishes to go this direction and procures these parts I don't see how bashing the idea with no data supports the intent of this site.

I just removed my PC servos from my 68 C model and they were in the B6 position as yours were.

"Consider the dual GPS/ VHF antenna. If you have a GPS then replace. If not run GPS coax while you are there." I did exactly as Yetti is saying (and I too had an antenna in the middle of my field of view same location as C Fischer describes) by removing the antenna ahead of the windshield and replacing my GPS antenna with a combo GPS/COM so I didn't add any more holes. I was fortunate as the antenna in front of the windshield was a single whip and I just put a botton plug over the hole when I removed it. The GPS/Com antenna is located above the baggage compartment where the old GPS antenna once was. Both features work great on the new antenna. I only had to make one new run of coax for the com side of the new antenna.

Possible cracked case O-360-A1A
Old Chub replied to 59Moonster's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
A64Pilot "But I’m not posting this stuff for those that believe they know more than professionals that have spent most of their adult life in aircraft maintenance." You need to be careful on Mooney Space when talking about professionals. There are many of us that have the same same or exceeding experience as yourself. This site is to discuss and inform and learn. -
A64 Pilot quoted this in a previous post. "An owner produced part is forbidden to be sold, and these clearly are for sale." I feel this is a misinterpretation of the regulations. When the regulation speaks of an owner produced part is not for sale it is referring to the owner having had the part made then selling that part to another individual. The owner produced parts are sold and sold to the owner. It would be nice if McFarlane made my OPPs and didn't charge me but they were clearly sold to me and sold as OPP. The issue of having completed parts for sale as OPP is what I believe what A64 Pilot was trying to discuss. I have seen many ways to work around this issue like leaving off the marking of the part and it can sit on the shelf as an uncompleted part.

Dumb GTX330 Wiring Diagram Question
Old Chub replied to TCUDustoff's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
TCU, Wait till you install a GTN 650/750. There are 4 power and 4 ground wires to pin out. Of course you can tie together with a larger guage once out of the connector but to get power and ground on the unit its 8 pins. -
I would not hold out any hopes for a quick public auction or sale. The company I work for has a facility at Fort Lauderdale executive that has had a king air 200 series still nearby against the perimeter fence for a couple of years now. A real shame and a once real nice airplane going to waste in the Florida elements. It is a seized DEA asset as I suspect this aircraft will be also.

Matt, I will take it. Will send PM for details. Warren

How bad is it really to have missing logs?
Old Chub replied to Parttime_Pilot_Blake's topic in General Mooney Talk
A long time mechanic once said "The log books will always reflect the condition of the logbooks...if your lucky the logbooks will reflect the condition of the aircraft" -
Have you discussed the possibility with your FSDO for an AMOC?
