  1. Awesome airplane! I want one of those when I grow up!
  2. Don't want the possibility of putting contaminated fuel back into the tanks. Better to use it in a ground based vehicle.
  3. I use carb heat, with mixture leaned, up until short final then full forward with mixture and prop on final GUMP check before landing. Pull carb heat occasionally during long descents with power back. Have never had carb ice.
  4. I sump the tanks and gasolator first flight every day. Haven't found water in many years (aircraft is parked in a hangar) but sumping is a good precautionary preflight procedure. NEVER put the fuel back in the tank.
  5. That's why I always ask that skirts be removed before flight....
  6. Anxious to see the pics!
  7. Go after the E. You'll be much happier and flying a great airplane right away! You'll be tied up restoring the C for the next year!
  8. I like the name for the E model: Super 21. Sounds fast! I own a 68 C. Great airplane but Ranger sounds like such a wimpy name. The speed designations (201, 231....) would be my preference.
  9. Great looking glass cockpit!
  10. I'm not sure about that.....most airplanes flynprt
  11. Looks like a nice F at a reasonable price, subject to a thorough pre-purchase. I have a 68 C but think that a clean F in the $50k range is a good value.
  12. Awesome! Thanks!
  13. How do we get that cool map that some of you have as part of your signature showing states flown to?
  14. Let us know how it goes. I have a 1968 C and I think the only place they would attach as well is the centerpost.
  15. I tried it but the mount and ball were too big and cumbersome to use in my C. Not very practical in a compact cockpit.
  16. Logic would call for avionics first but nothing makes you feel better than a nice new paint job on your aircraft!
  17. I installed a Whelen LED in my C. Took about 15 minutes. Paid about $160.00 for it at Oshkosh this past summer. They say that this one is FAA approved, if that is a concern. Works great!
  18. I would go with a field overhaul unless I were planning on selling the airplane soon.
  19. Check to make sure your airplane is still in your hangar!
  20. Nice! There is nothing more satisfying than a new paint job!
  21. 500 nm will get you in range of Nantucket island in Massachusetts. Beautiful island community with New England charm. Cobblestone streets in the main downtown area and lots of great specialty shops and restaurants. Nantucket used to be a whaling community but is now a high-end resort. If you go around Thanksgiving you may run into Joe Biden walking the streets and shops.
  22. Interior actually looks fine! Panel a little dated. I would live with the paint and interior and concentrate my $$'s on a panel upgrade.
  23. Ice.... No deicing equipment on my C so I stay out of it. If I start accumulating light rime on a winter trip, I'm looking for a higher or lower altitude with warmer air. Ice is not something to ignore when flying a non-deiced airplane.
  24. Ditto for me. I like to store the airplane with full tanks and to always take off with full fuel. You never know when you may need it. Unless, of course, there is a weight issue, in which case I will plan accordingly.
  25. I think that the paint looks great! Keep it. In the pics, doesn't even look like it needs new paint. How is the interior/panel?
