  1. That's great! is that for all aircraft or no? I would bet it is a one man shop, which is fine and he does nothing other than Cirrus for that cost and has no CRS as well. Roll the dice by all means and good luck. I am talking about running a real shop with real shop rates is all. Not doubting it, just do not believe it if they are running a shop with employees and overhead that is normal. And here, someone forgot to read this on their site: AVIONICS / ADSB / MODIFICATIONS FYC can install most ADSB systems into your aircraft. We typically do not do avionics work mobile and prefer to have the aircraft brought to KSNA for major work. Simple system (GDL 82) installs can be handled in the field. We try to leave the major avionics installs / retrofits to part 145 Avionics shops as the time involved does not always fit our scheduling. Be sure to call and ask as we do avionics on a case by case basis.
  2. By chance, check the P lead shields on the mags. And inspect engine compartment for unsed wires that are cut or capped and stowed and completely remove them. This is actually a common issue especially with Mooney's for some reason.
  3. Simple minds concentrate on trying to make themselves look better. So sorry, I got interrupted during my post. My grandson is here and surprised me. The ground is where the current is originated form and that is where it comes into the cabin. Thinwing, I am surprised you couldn't figure THAT out in my post as it really is crappy you try to point out semantics and discredit the most likely repair versus trying to make yourself look more superior. Either way, what do you feel the problem is any why? I mean, with the "hole in my knowledge as an Avionics Specialist" I obviously need to be taught this type of maintenance since I cannot impress people because let face it, I care about impressing people.
  4. Let's start with where do the Mags get their power from and what type of wire is supposed to be used? They are certainly self generating but they need to have something to kick start them, so to speak. The single wire, one to each mag, should use shielded wiring, if that wiring is not shielded, it will carry that induced high energy into the cabin where the wire is originating from. If the shield is not there, the RF produced is then broadcast throughout the cabin and is usually picked up by the comm antennas and induced into the system or is gets induced through the intercom system someway, somehow. Seen it a lot, fixed it a lot.
  5. True and the same goes for the Dynon as well
  6. You do understand that for the engine monitoring also with the full system except the AP is about 14-16k for parts
  7. Did you get the HSI Pinouts? If not, which one do you have? KI525A? NSD360? Email me if you need them still and I will see what I can do my friend!!!
  8. Wait a minute!!!!!!! Was that a compliment? I don't deserve that!!!! LOL, we are all in this together and we need to bring back that community feel to OUR industry.
  9. Why CGR-30 Combo and not the MVP-50? Just curious.
  10. A competent A&P can do it no problem! Build the harness yourself and it will be cheaper and better quality, most likely. We just finished one for @Bob R and mounted the GAD and GMU in the rear accessory area above the panel. Be sure to isolate the Whelen box if you have one and run the ground to the Whelen box to the negative battery terminal. It will help. Also use Airframe ground for the GMU and GAD grounds. One last thing, use ONLY Stainless or Non-Magnetic fasteners within about 12" of the GMU.
  11. Well........WHAT HAPPENED?????????
  12. Actually, sorry, I disagree. I have found my guys have put connectors back into the backplate and not tightened the screws all the way either on the connector as it attaches to the backplate or on the backplate attachment to the rack and it does cause intermittent/hard failures. Now, I also totally agree with you and check the connections. The encoders have also been know to go south and did the GTX345 get installed with the GAE12 or tapped into the existing encoder?
  13. Mark is right, the improvements they have made are simply phenomenal! Bottom line, like we tell all of our customers, PS Engineering, in my opinion, is the best in their niche because "It's What They Do". They do not try to put their hand into Nav, GPS, AP, FMS, Transponders, they are the best at what they do for a reason and they are more than happy to stay that way!!!! Hats off to you Mark!!!!! Keep up the great work!!! We appreciate all you have done and are doing!!!
  14. Where are you located?
  15. The AP is the same basic one as listed here. Virtually no differences, just certification: https://www.dynonavionics.com/autopilot-overview.php
  16. Fair, have you looked at the Aspens also?
  17. I don't think it will be "Cheaper" Maybe it will be a bit more, but if you go with the HDX AP, you get more functionality. That's basically the only differences. There is only a few things that the TruTrak would do independently from the EFIS and the Navigator would end up controlling on LPV and most vertical nav routes.
  18. Just out of curiosity, why wasn't this suggested in the earlier post?
  19. I am sorry about that, maybe look at alternatives. There are some out there.
  20. Why would you selectively install the HDX in that way? You would be wasting valuable resources and limiting the amazing awareness you COULD have. Its like buying a truck for $60k with full trailer hook-ups and a 5th wheel hitch in the back and you don't even own a 5th wheel and have never backed up a trailer before AND don't plan on buying one ever! It just isn't mart to go that route, in my opinion. This system comes ready to go and we have never done or suggested a partial installation like that because it just doesn't make sense at all. Nothing will really be displayed on it if you keep your exiting units. Think about it. Why spend that money? Sorry, rant is over now. I apologize.
  21. You can pretty much bet on a $25-30k parts and labor. Use the Dynon ADS-B solution and sell the one you have currently. That is the suggestion I would give. Do it once and do it right.
  22. No, you would use your navigator for that as Dynon is not set up for and probably will not go that route as the price point will then be blown out of the water.
  23. Well, all I will say is there is a reason why I am not a fan of Garmin, LOL. Aside from that, it seems like you may have had a ground issue or maybe a bus issue. Now, IF there was a "surge" would it be evident in everything that has power to it? Mags, Lights, switches, CBs, etc....is everything working now? Was it mainly things on the Avionics Bus and nothing on the battery bus? Those are the anomalies that need answered and explained to go any further. Did anything else "burn up? Were all of thiose units hooked to the same grounding point and there is an issue there? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!
  24. So you like the Aspen as well? Have you sold a lot of those this year as well?
