  1. I’ve got a used 900 on my desk right now...
  2. Some people sit on the sidelines for years (decades?) trying to find a good deal on a aircraft to save 30k, so for them probably not. In the past the FIKI option was worth ~20k on the used market. Now with everyone wanting one it’ll probably add 25-30k. Still the investment takes a big hit when freshly installed. Probably would only have to save your life once or twice to be worth it
  3. It’s a great time to sell a 252 and you’ll probably make out very well. IIRC this one has the 480 gps/nav/com which is a great unit IMO.
  4. To me this sounds like a repeat of the 3100 cry for help. If imaginary buyers don’t flood them with emails they’ll kick us to the curb. I have to agree with @cliffy, what we need is a simple inexpensive system like the TT. If dynon could accomplish that I’d seriously give them a chance in my panel.
  5. Jimmy sold this plane not long ago and the paint job always impressed me. I talked with this shop in great depth when I was considering an acclaim with extreme hail damage. They sounded like straight shooters with a lot of skill. Still considering them to update my paint scheme in the next year or two.
  6. OP, you have a serious amount of O knowledge available from the people who have responded. I’d bounce some more questions off them and start looking (in person) at some different O’s from 175-200k. 50k goes quick when maintaining these planes, don’t make the mistake of buying the cheapest one unless you really know what you’re doing.
  7. Please fill us in. Info like this will help many others avoid having the plane AOG for a couple months.
  8. Good call. I can honestly say my ps3, ps4, and Xbox one have been gamed on less than an hour over the past decade. I’m looking for a way to keep my mind and skills sharp when I don’t have time to go to the track or go flying. A 3090 would be nice but the retail price is higher than my budget for the entire system and many people are paying $750 over that just to get their hands on one.
  9. Well everything is falling into place. Couldn’t locate a reasonably priced 3080 so I’m picking up a reserved 3070 this week. Still undecided on a monitor setup. Planning on using the computer for iracing and flight simulator. Torn between a single ultra wide (38 or 49) or going with triple 27’s or 32’s. Realistically knowing that pushing higher than 1080 on a triple display might crush my frame rate. Wished I could justify a 3090 but I’m not a gamer...
  10. I’m not going to agree with this. Pull in a A* with a slight pressurization leak or turbo that’s not fully coming up to steam and I’d understand a few weeks of diagnostics. 4 turbos, 4 automatic waste gates, pressure controllers, etc could be very difficult to find a problem. We are talking about a veneer adjustment directly attached to the exhaust where you can see clear as day if it’s directing exhaust to the turbo or not. If the turbo is fine there is a leak somewhere upstream or downstream. Not rocket science imo...we are talking about it not working at all.
  11. I guess I just can’t understand how a well know MSC cannot figure out a simple system like this. It’s been used for decades on multiple types of aircraft. After TWO months did they at least pressure test the system, carefully adjust the waste gate, and closely inspect the flap that closes off the incoming NA air? @RCBass do you have the paperwork on the TN system? Should have install and troubleshooting documents that will allow you or a mechanic to go through every piece of the system.
  12. Is it a manual TN’er setup or automatic?
  13. The new g500 does not require a unlock for the gad43 only for the gad43e. However, I think the old system requires an unlock for both units. Having said that if it was pulled out of a working system the cards/system should already be functional. The gad43 is a good match for your 225 because it does not allow for altitude preselect...no reason to pay extra for the 43e.
  14. There is a 6 page thread about it over on BT. Sad but not totally surprising. I have one sitting on my desk right now that I unfortunately upgraded to the A version...big mistake. Oh well, I’ll wait it out and see if Dennis can fix the problem or if his company goes under.
  15. Still looking for a nice 6-9...the C will need to find a new hangar when that happens. Congrats.
  16. Haven’t complied with that SB. You can probably buy spares for every part of your AP system for pennies on the dollar. I’d go that direction first.
  17. Print them out and highlight any important entries. Go back and make a dated list showing the info. Use red to highlight any damage or major problems and yellow for important maintenance items.
  18. The g5 is a approved backup for both the g3x and TXi. This will allow you to remove the 6 pack as long the 256 AI is no longer needed for the kfc AP. Back to your original question. Going with a 375/255/225 combo vs a 650/750 will leave enough cash to buy a 10 inch g3x AND gfc500 hardware.
  19. I agree with the above. No reason to redo a panel and end up with round holes in it. If you want to up the HP to 310 just move the timer/clock to the right side and replace it with a EI tach set for 2700. If anything fails on the Moritz rip out the right side unit (keeping the left side vac gauge) and replace it with a 900 mounted vertically, move the backup AI to the TC position (with a slip indicator), and move the cdi down. It will be a hack job but sooner or later you’ll be putting in a large flat panel...
  20. Received my 2 channel unit last week. Look well built and easy to program. Wired it into my relays at the airport and everything worked as it should. Before I utilized a special timed relay that would allow my tanis to run for one hour on activation that was in addition to my forced air heater. This allowed for maximum heat to be applied on last minute flights. Now I have the ability to control both independently...very nice. Thanks for the fast shipping.
  21. That’s good news that they won’t be forgotten. Still might be first available vs TT and Dynon...
  22. The mfd requires the external backup battery to remove the ASI and altimeter. The Max pfd/mfd with battery backup is required to remove the AI. Another option is an esi500 which will work with a pfd or pfd Max to be able to remove the backup instruments. Until a month ago the Sandia 340 could also be field approved to replace the backup instruments...now it has demoted to paperweight status.
  23. Can’t look at it that way...how much is your life worth is the only way I can justify aircraft expenses.
  24. To get a high UL you will need to find an upgraded 252 or upgrade it yourself. The late 90’s vintage planes have UL’s in the mid to upper 900’s.
  25. Not positive but on one thread someone mentioned Garmin might exclude the pre 65 short body aircraft...
