  1. Kind of a tough panel to know where to start. Personally I’d dump the radar and stick a JPI 730 in its place, swap the adf indicator with a backup AI and fly it that way for awhile. From there make a big jump and get a 10 inch g3x, g5, and gfc500 AP. Sell off the 730 display (in high demand w/ people upgrading from 700/800) and connect the wires to the Garmin EIS.
  2. I agree about the 4pt. However, I lost some of the desire after Yooper tore into his wing last year. No way I could trust just anyone to complete a repair like that. I’d need to move up north next to Tom’s hangar to have an expert set of eyes on it...and it’s cold up there.
  3. I’d trade my Mooney for a partnership (with ideal partners) in a 2000-2004 pa46.
  4. My guess is they are selling very few new systems at this point. Similar to BK they are trying to create revenue.
  5. Because I’m a CB and don’t want to spend $50 to join COPA
  6. I can’t believe the luck you’ve had over the past few years... Sam and David over at Jewel have helped out a lot of members and are very fast. Might want to give them a call and see if they can help you out. Shipping is cheap, go with a shop that’ll get it done.
  7. Your rocket is going to get jealous...better buy two like I do when shopping for the kids.
  8. I don’t long for more speed from my C, only longer legs. I’ve only seen one C for sale with LR tanks. I passed on one E with LR tanks and aero comfort interior awhile back. As I flew away after inspecting the aircraft, knowing five other buyers after me were ready to pounce, I had a knot in my stomach that I might regret it. To be honest the only thing I regret/miss is the LR tanks.
  9. Lapeer aviation has been good to us in the past. AGL is a little bit further but has an excellent reputation.
  10. Especially with the gdl50r feeding weather and traffic info to the big screen. Looks like the g3x is compatible with lots of stuff. I think the txi is limited to waas only. In the list below the (w) is similar to the (es) for the transponders. Both the 330 and the 330es can be used. I’d imagine both the 530 and 530w are compatible.
  11. The cowling design/airflow is not ideal on the c/e models having the cowl flaps partially open helps with overall airflow.
  12. Well the plane is pending after a week, probably wasn’t overpriced by too much in the current market...
  13. No AP going forward? I’m not sure if you can remove the TC with dual G5’s.
  14. No, I think it’s a great idea. I’d push for a Garmin panel and FIKI.
  15. Disconnected and left in place. Probably should replace it with a nice machined aluminum piece powered coated the same color as the panel. Might even look nice to silk screen a Mooney emblem on it as well.
  16. I’d consider pairing the gps 175 with a g5 hsi to replace both the 90b and efis 40.
  17. Could be lots of things. For the past three years did you select GPSS on the aspen?
  18. I’d find a new avionics shop...slightly kidding. It’s sounds like your install is still utilizing the king 256 attitude indicator vs the aspen ea100. You will not be able to get the flight director on the aspen without that unit. The 225 is also unique in that it has GPSS internal to the unit. I’m not sure if the installation manual utilizes the gpss internal to the aspen or the AP.
  19. Slight correction to the above. The DX was introduced in 2003 with a lower panel and a dual bus electric system. In 2005 the GX was introduced which included the g1000. The “thin” two blade prop was standard on ovation 2’s 2000-2004 and was just as fast as the thin blade top prop.
  20. That’s the only meter you have in the plane. IIRC it’s triggered by oil pressure so you are correct that it’s a hobbs meter. I wouldn’t worry about times in general. Our fleet is collecting so little hours in general and owners could disconnect that wire in less than a minute I strongly believe the smart/quality buyer will be looking at condition not hours. Having said that if you are redoing your panel for a g500 install I strong advise you to dump the Moritz gauges before you cut a new panel. They are not repairable and it’s not if but when they will fail.
  21. SOLD I have a black Halo headset that I purchased used awhile back. They are in like new condition and have worn them just a couple times. Price is $280 including shipping to the lower 48. SOLD
  22. Waas?
  23. Honestly, I use both heading and track all the time when I’m flying. For me it provides a lot of situational awareness on what current winds are and keeps my corrections proportional to what’s needed. On AP it doesn’t make a difference.
  24. There are a lot of planes out there not getting the love they deserve. This one will require some catch-up maintenance but I don’t think the owner is trying to hide anything. I think he just lost interest (medical) years ago and couldn’t let it go for whatever reason. With all the unknowns the price might be high but things like upgrading to a waas unit, extra servos, and adsb are cheap right now unless you’re swinging for the fences panel wise. Probably over half the engines installed in the fleet are over 20 years since overhaul. This one might surprise the buyer and last many more years.
  25. With all that Garmin equipment I’d contact them an ask if your plane can be a test bed for the older short bodies. Might get a free AP for the downtime.
