  1. This is from about 8 minutes in the clouds on an approach in Jamestown, NY on Sunday evening to drop the plane off for a annual. After a flight in ice, I always check the surfaces to make sure the tks was working everywhere and observe the ice on the unprotected surfaces. 'As others has said, keep speed up and limit flaps. Except for landing, minimum speed in a TN with ice is 120 kts and you are limited to T/O flaps for the landing. Sorry for the sideways pictures Brad
  2. All depends on the specific surgery and the underlying cause for the surgery. 4-6 months of no flying would be pretty drastic. I do brain and spine surgery to pay for 100LL. direct message me details, phone# etc. I'd be happy to discuss with you. Brad.
  3. I am planning on adding my commercial, but I have no use for it except that I want it. And it is a good excuse to fly. Time with an instructor is always valuable. Brad
  4. Amphetamines can have a slightly shorter or longer elimination time depending on diet and other factors. But it is true that they should be excreted by 48 hours. Examples of amphetamines: Amphetamine pharmaceuticals Brand name United States Adopted Name (D:L) ratio Dosage form Marketing start date Adderall – 3:1 (salts) tablet 1996 Adderall XR – 3:1 (salts) capsule 2001 Adzenys XR amphetamine 3:1 (base) ODT 2016 ] Dyanavel XR amphetamine 3.2:1 (base) suspension 2015 Evekeo amphetamine sulfate 1:1 (salts) tablet 2012 Dexedrine dextroamphetamine sulfate 1:0 (salts) capsule 1976 ProCentra dextroamphetamine sulfate 1:0 (salts) liquid 2010 Zenzedi dextroamphetamine sulfate 1:0 (salts) tablet 2013 Vyvanse lisdexamfetamine dimesylate 1:0 (prodrug) capsule 2007 tablet (Taken from my favorite medical textbook, Wickipedia) There are two other brands for Phenteramine ( Adipex-p and Suprenza) that are used for weight loss. This can also show up an anphetamines in tests. As Shadrach said, none are on list list of FAA approved meds. ADD medications are on the do not issue list for AMEs. not an AME. It's been a long time since I've done any of that medical stuff. I do brain surgery to pay for 100LL. Brad
  5. In the TN, low boost is on for climbing when above 12k and all the time above 18k.
  6. And you can't beat the views into CYTZ (Billy bishop -Toronto city airport).
  7. +1 for CYTZ. It it is a lot of fun to fly in there. It can be busy, but the controllers have always been helpful and friendly. Porter is the FBO that I used. Agree with the prices above. But can't beat the convienece . There is an underground walkway from the island to the city There are plenty of cabs waiting on the city side From there, you can probably find a better place than the airport to rent a car if you need. I have flown in there with non-canpass passengers a couple of times and customs has declined to come out and freed us quickly. If you have not done the international thing, don't fret It is easy. Don't forget your EAPIS and remember to let you return airport know ahead of time if you are coming back on a weekend when someone might not usually be around. And make sure you have your homeland security sticker. Brad
  8. I just renewed mine this month after one year of ownership. M20TN. About 120 hours in it this year. Now over 500 total time. My policy was 1m/100k $500 deductible in motion and parked with war and terrorism coverage. The new offer was 1000.00 less for the same policy or 500.00 less if I switched to 1m smooth. (I am instrument rated. Have not attended MAPA yet) Tom Hauge at Wings insurance is my broker. Brad
  9. Ok. I know- thread creep, but it is fun to go fast. This was at the top of the decent. The ground speeds most of the way we're around 305.
  10. I guess that video is good enough reason to pay attention to this placard.
  11. @N252MK Jamestown, NY (KJHW) is less than a Mooney hour away. They are a MSC. I use them for my annual and major items. 716-665-4800
  12. I think the viruses on the pilot relief tube would worry me more. Just sayin...
  13. Maybe all of us airplane guys can agree on one thing - boats are an expensive pain in the ass and no one in their right mind would buy one.
  14. That's one group down from the 737
  15. Before I bought my plane, I was flying a variety of rental death traps. One was an archer without a gps. I had filed IFR along airways, including transiting a bravo airspace. Weather was VFR. Distance 160+ nm. In radar contact. Departure controller: do you have a handheld GPS? Me: Yes. Deparure Controller: You can proceed direct destination. This was also the same Bravo airspace that I was cleared to transit with a non-functioning transponder without any hassle on a different occasion. Rentals.... disclosure: don't want to get anyone in trouble over this. Maybe it was all just a dream. Brad.
  16. While to cowl was off for another reason, we found that my 'j-shaped' nozzle was broken. My mechanic ordered a new one, but it doesn't seem to be the same part. Does anyone have the correct part number for the nozzle? I'd really like to have a new one installed before Friday. I'll attach pictures of my old one and the new one that was sent. I'll also add the vibration damper on the new one. Thanks, Brad
  17. Next order of business, a group buy for exhaust repairs.
  18. 8420' at KERI. 75 kts over the fence.
  19. Penn Yann is fixing my fuel pump for a leak right now. Mine is from an Acclaim, but you may want to give them a call and see what they can do. Brad
  20. I wish they would have cleaned the bugs off of the speed brakes before the picture.
  21. Beautiful plane. Congrats. @Samurai Husky let me know if you still was an O2D2. I have one that I am selling. Brad.
  22. Was just kidding, of course. Would also have to adjust those fuel flow estimates up to feed the engine with the snails.
  23. Put 2 turbo chargers on it and fly higher .
  24. if you want an idea of what the speed brakes do to airflow, put them up in the rain and look at the water flow.
  25. That's why I didn't stay on the yellow line. I gave myself room to turn around. I didn't figure I'd get the whole pushback thing. And I only had my 100 lb girlfriend with me. She isn't any help pushing the plane while I sit in it and steer it backwards.
