  1. The F, G and J are Mid bodies not short bodies. A-E are the short bodies.
  2. Why would the tabs point forward? Conventional wisdom would have them trailing with the flow of air not against.
  3. Need to start in Bangor, ME for the lobster!
  4. I do this with my young co-pilots quite often in the PC-12, however I am always on the radios and I don't do it if there are other planes in or entering the pattern.
  5. I'm surprised. I have flown with the same A20s for the past 5 years. These are my "work" headset (military). They have been around the world multiple times, in and out of baggage, in hot (120 degree heat) in the cold (-10 degrees) along with blowing dust and sand. They are never left in a plane but always stuffed into my flight bag, I am honestly not very careful with them. I have 3 additional A20s in my Mooney but they are only 18 months old. I have not had issues with any of them.
  6. I know he is attempting the historical route, be he is going the wrong direction for the prevailing winds. Having spent some "vacation" time in NW Africa, I can tell you that some of the biggest storms I have ever seen (non-hurricane) were there. At 750X250 nm up to FL 600. you can not go around, over, or under.
  7. I don't care who is behind me, I follow a routine. You should not be taxiing and having your head down inside the cockpit. How long does a run up take?
  8. I have done 5 different airports in one day in my Mooney, it was a fly-in and poker run. In other planes flying with students I have done more than 37 landings, but not at different airports.
  9. I ordered one of those...I also want a MS shirt.
  10. I visited @Raptor05121 for a fly-in. I pulled my plane along the green line, it was a PITA! No way would I pull it from the hangar to the pump.
  11. Thank you. I had a feeling it was going to be a "it depends" answer. I will have to check when I get home. Only 25 more days!
  12. I have the quick drain fitting, what size hose do you use? I have watched mine being changed but have yet to do my own.
  13. @"Chocks" what happened to this venture? It's almost Airventure time and it would be nice to have a MS t-shirt.
  14. A map like this?
  15. Bob, Awesome, Thank you! Yes I also have the IO360 A1A. I am getting ready to put in my order to Spruce so it is gets home about the same time I do.
  16. I have been using Champion only because that is what was on the plane when I bought it. I currently use PN CH48110-1, is the Tempest PN AA48110-2 the correct replacement? I like the concept of the magnet and that I can buy 5 Tempest for the cost of 4 Champion.
  17. Do tell. I am planning on bringing along a bottle of Woodford.
  18. If you can get over the sticker price Helinox makes some of the best and lightest camp/beach chairs and cots. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=helinox+&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahelinox
  19. When I fly with a student or young co-pilot, I sit back and watch their "techniques". Only if theirs really is not working or is ultimately unsafe, will I introduce them to a different way of doing things. You have to be careful with using the words Procedure or Technique interchangeably since they are different. Procedures are backed up by regulation, techniques are personal. Then of course there are "Tech-cedures" In military aircraft we tend to find our way into this realm because there is no regulation that spells it out, but it is needed to operate safely in our environments.
  20. Here is a recommended camping list http://www.mooneycaravan.com/community/oshkosh-camping-suggestions from the Caravan site. It mentions small camp stoves.
  21. I own a older version of this tent http://www.coleman.com/conventional-tents/montana-6-person-tent/2000028055.html#q=montana&lang=default&start=1 Thing to remember about tents is they actually sleep about half of their advertised number if you plan on using air mattresses or bringing anything in the tent with you. When my family did more tent camping we used the 6 person for 2 adults, 1 kid and a dog. It was plenty full.
  22. I knew that's what you wanted, but my brain was disconnected. Sorry. The Coleman site does not have the packaged measurements or true weight either. Found this "Packed in the case dimensions are approximately 40x14x11 inches." with the weight being the lower 40ish lbs.
  23. 78x22x59inches but weights either 43 or 93lbs, the website is confusing.
  24. Been there, its a pretty area of that country.
