  1. I'm just west of you, across the bay from Destin. I got a whole .78 inches of rain today between 8am and about 6pm, then the sun came out. It was windier than usual, but that was it.
  2. My shop doesn't seem to care if I supply the parts or if they do the ordering. When I had my windshield replaced he actually asked if I wanted to order it or have him order it. The quote for install was the same for labor either way. I had him order it because I didn't want to order the wrong sealant and such.
  3. I have been to one that supplies the meat, but you have to cook it yourself.
  4. Looks nice, Give All American a call.
  5. @Bob_Belvillenever misses a chance to post that picture. It has to be the most posted on MS
  6. Were you heading south to pick someone up? Seems most were headed north away from Irma.
  7. You are correct, my Google skills are strong, my ability to read on the other hand is lacking
  8. According to my mad Google skills, Rockville is a suburb of Dallas.
  9. I'm guessing his font is cold
  10. Must be a control lock, the horse shoed ends on the rudder peddals. Not entirely sure how the yoke portion would be placed.
  11. Yes, at least in my experience, if you push the sq button you get a constant "rx"
  12. @Cody Stallings is our in house prop expert (owns Stallings Aircraft Propeller)
  13. If one comes to the area, my plane will likely ride it out in the hangar as I will have to move the governments airplanes. My family would have to evacuate on their own.
  14. The F is a great airplane also.
  15. Having a plan is always a good idea. First, in our planes I am not sure why would ever depart needing a departure alternate. That would assume you are taking off below landing minimums for that airport. I would make the argument that there are not many instances where an argument for that is valid. Second, It is tough to make it to an alternate in a single engine aircraft if you have an engine problem. So in the worse case situation of an engine failure in IMC an alternate is not of much use. Thirdly, see point one-why are you departing if the weather is that low?
  16. AMU = Aviation Monetary Unit = $1000 OP = Originating or Original Poster of the thread
  17. The part I disliked the most while flying under the hood was taking it off in the transition to land. You can tell when someone is cheating on an instrument approach, they will get off course and or glide path an make no correction because they are happy with the visual. Our currency requirement is pretty high and since I also instruct in the plane, I generally try to make things more interesting by flying full procedure with hold or PT and occasionally will fly an RMI only VOR or NDB generally to a circle.
  18. The U.S. Air Force trains 1000's of pilots each year and nary a hood is worn. In fact the only time I have ever worn a hood was for my ATP.
  19. The presidential TFR is for Austin and Corpus Christy, so it looks like the aircraft are probably there for supply/evacuations. I flew numerous C-130 missions into New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina, our primary mission was aero-medical evacuations.
  20. The left wing in that video must be an amazing pilot...
  21. I keep mine in my ipad - charts are so 1990s
  22. @mike_elliott is a very experienced Mooney CFII and might be able to help or point you in the right direction.
