  1. I departed at 1230 with winds 030/15G23 OVC 020. I landed about 18 minutes later with winds 090/18G22 OVC 026 that quickly fell to OVC 018 -RA. You may have made a wise weather choice.
  2. @Hyett6420 Andrew, you put on a great presentation, thank you for taking your time to share your experiences with those of us on the left side of the Atlantic.
  3. Some counties in FL hit you with a Use Tax in addition to the sales tax.
  4. @carusoam thanks for adding the MS aliases for Ron and Lee.
  5. A big thanks to @mike_elliott, Ron Dubin, Lee Drumheller, @Seth and all the others that made this weekend another one for the books. Great presentations, comradery and flying all to Better the Breed and support the Bill Gilliland Foundation.
  6. if prflyer does not take you up on it, I would love to have that copy.
  7. I would think it would draw some interest and would make a great conservation starter.
  8. @mike_elliottmade a donation...see you Friday!
  9. Some Mooney's have vertically adjustable seats, others do not.
  10. I thought the Cessna 310 was an interesting choice as well for Mooney. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. That is the placarded speed that the window can be opened, mine is listed as 150 mph (131 kts)
  12. Apparently test pilots are above proper flight planning. How do you land at a fuel stop that does not have fuel for your plane? Seems a simple phone call would have saved the embarrassment of filling your new prototype with diesel out of a 5 gal gas can and a makeshift funnel. The first day of the ferry of the M10 POC from the R&D facility in Chino to the production facility in Kerville Texas. The plan was for "Wild" Bill Colvin, Kevin Kammer, and Elliot Seguin to stop for gas in Gila Bend. Unfortunately while Gila had plenty of 100LL there was no Jet A. So the team got some diesel (certified in the continental CD-155) from a passerby and jumped over to Casa Grande for the rest of the fuel load. ... Arriving in Deming not only was there a totally rad airport car (err van), but line guy Tony suggested the Adobe Deli for dinner. Which ended up being a great way to wait out the thunderstorms that were popping up in all quadrants. 13. That prop was defiantly not under power at the time of impact, in-fact 2 of the 3 blades look almost untouched.
  14. I did T&Gs on my private check ride as well as my ATP, separated by over 20 years. Seems times are not changing outside of Mooney Space.
  15. I actively monitor Guard unless I am getting ATIS or talking on UNICOM while still on approach. In fact yesterday, I had to use guard outside of Tampa when I departed an in-towered field and Tampa Approach apparently could not hear me on the frequency I arrived on. I needed to pick up my IFR clearance and was running out of VMC. A quick call to them on Guard got me to an alternate frequency and on my way IFR.
  16. Bob are you describing your plane or yourself?
  17. Whos hands were those?
  18. Not always. Generally if we are staying in the pattern we will remain configured, if we depart the pattern to reenter via an overhead, shallow or ELP then we clean up and configure as appropriate. Having one or more turboprops helps with the configured climb performance.
  19. In my approximately 2500 hours in PC-12s I have yet to find much that is not nice about that particular plane.
  20. I flew a mission for Operation Airdrop to move supplies into central Florida to aid in Hurricane Irma recovery. I picked up 450 lbs of supplies at Tallahassee (KTLH) and flew it down to Lake Wales (X07). I was delayed in TLH waiting for a delivery of baby formula, I did not realize that this was a live Face Book Feed at the time https://www.facebook.com/groups/operationairdrop/permalink/117928445559725/ Total was about 620 NM and had to spend the last hour on the way home avoiding thunder storms over the Florida panhandle. But it was still a good day to fly.
  21. This plane is low wing and has no issues with physics feeding from both tanks.
  22. I wish, I was stuck at work not flying.
  23. This may have nothing to do with it, however I started having troubles getting my IO-360 to start. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. Turned out it was a weak starter. I learned it was the starter when it quit and I had to replace it. The motor starts like a dream now.
  24. @salty are you going to be at the Mooney Summit in PCB in a couple of weeks? If not for the whole weekend, the Friday gathering at the airport is open to everyone, it would give you an opportunity to see almost every Mooney Model on one ramp. Although, getting out of the longer Mooney's is not all that much easier than the short ones.
  25. ask @Cody Stallingsfor his opinion
