  1. This will be the test of "new" performance requirements. They will definitely provide better than stock lighting. Price point is the key. The tips are really nice looking, but they will not make your plane faster. They will make it "look faster". If these are under a grand for set and lighting is improved...Why not? If they are a grand a piece plus installation? NOPE.
  2. I would also like to see those statistics, as provided by insurance carriers, that T&G GU incidents are driving insurance premiums higher. Not holding my breath...
  3. What I think requires very LITTLE pitch is the transition from decent to round out. Then it is just hold it off and let it land when it is ready...THEN hold it off with a little back pressure stall horn mains and keep holding back pressure to keep nose wheel off as long as possible. Easy when light. It all changes with load. Everybody has bounced a Mooney. "It happens". Not all bounces escalate to a go around. A touch of power and repeat. If it bounces twice...GO AROUND. No big deal. Just more fun Mooney time.
  4. Firebaling? That's a new one. Stealing that. Way more exciting than firewalling...
  5. Different beast those Cirrus...
  6. 75knots over the fence? I am 80MPH on final and power out when runway made. 80 knots is WAY FAST for over the fence for me regardless of load.
  7. Will not be sucked in....DO NOT REPLY...Nothing to see in this old movie... There, better...
  8. Good stuff..So both mold and compound.....
  9. I replaced my OEM with a Zeft unit when I updated to an EI digital voltage gauge. I had multiple electrical "issues" prior to the replacement. (Knock on wood) the system with a replacement also of reconditioned Generator and belt has resulted in ZERO electrical issues. It just works. That Prestolite looks a tad..."weathered".... By vintage aircraft standards this was "cheap"...
  10. May I ask what carrier that was? That was above and beyond. Pretty classey. Carriers often get bad press for claims issues. I am pleasantly surprised that they would go above the agreed limit amount. I would not have thought to even ask this. Good for you.
  11. Sorry to here about this, but so glad everyone on board is O.K. THAT is what counts.
  12. OSHA.gov. Type in approved flammable storage cabinets in search. Specs will be provided. NFPA 30 is flammable storage
  13. You can build your own "approved cabinet" out of wood. There are specs for the design. The key is to reduce fire load in the event of fire. They need to have a vent. You are trying to deprive a fire of oxygen and fuel. Hanger fires do happen. There are others adjacent that have exposure to improper electrical installations and combustible/flammable liquids. I am glad that the airport commission completes the inspections to reduce non-aviation exposures in public hangers. I use grounded extension cords for block heater if I am flying the next day. I don't store other flammable in my hanger. One persons "project" is another's nightmare of "what if's". I have a hanger to shelter my aircraft and store cleaning supplies in a cabinet. I have a ceramic heater that I use and I do have some concern that it could cause a fire. I turn it on the night before a flight vs. "all the time". Just trying to mitigate potential exposure. I guess I am the "odd duck" in that regard.
  14. Teasing. I can think of no better activity than sipping vino while lounging amongst aircraft and those that love them. Carry on soldier. Chiller is killer.
  15. Does Mr. New Jersey plane wrecker have the same moral outrage for theft of electricity that is not aviation related (from taxpayers) that he has for gas hose thiefs? (smiley face means attack is in "fun" because this poster thinks both are hilarious)....that being a wine cooler in a hanger designed to store an airplane in a public airport in a hanger that is not "theirs" by deed. Love the selective moral outrage. And nature. I definitely love nature and all its fury.
  16. They all survive, including the pup and a successful marriage proposal. Another day in the life of a Mooney pilot. Well played sir. VERY well played.
  17. Dangerous? Just a harmless little fuzzball.
  18. I read the entire excerpt and your interpretation that he was calling it a "hoax" is misguided. He elaborated on the "timing" and that there is still a lot of time left....He repeatedly said he didn't want to minimize concern, but why empty the shelves of bottled water? Can you use tap water to fill containers? Fill a bathtub with potable water? His comments related to emptying shelves of batteries etc. when the storm may or may not hit...over a week out. Media DOES blow the event out of proportion. Texas is still an open wound. Take precautions. Stay appraised of exposure, but panic buying? NOPE.
  19. Based on self observation and others input I am quite sure lower portal wins with me in the larger department...
  20. The plot thickens. So it is a 1600 hour engine. When was the overhaul completed? How much has the plane flown? If tanks have not been resealed they will need it done. Sealant just breaks down over decades. Get a pre-buy and price accordingly. Engine does not have much value. What you get is a "bonus" before the "hit". Good luck.
  21. I remember while in a 152 shutting down with mixture pull. Mixture knob came off in my hand. 19 year old instructor said "How do we shut it down now"? He didn't know...I said "Lets just move fuel flow to off". Plane shut down shortly thereafter. I don't do a P-lead check at shutdown. Never trained to do this. I will have to give it a try.
