  1. A beautiful tribute, by MTC. That movie and that song trigger wet eyes and emotions whenever I hear/see it. I thought of our fallen often throughout the day on Memorial Day. I reminded those I love and those to whom I came in contact of the real meaning of the solemn day.
  2. Call Brittain. They will be able to give guidance on trouble shooting. It is their system and their servos. I do not know why you would call Laser when you have the specialist on these systems in Tulsa. Get that fixed. Should not cost a lot even if replacing all servos
  3. Sometimes just because you can doesn't mean you should.
  4. The two courses were significantly MORE than an hour of my time.
  5. My instructor "assigned" the two courses and had me bring the completion slip print outs satisfying the ground portion of the Flight Review. We then flew 1.2 hours for the flight portion of the Flight review.
  6. I completed ALC-94 and ALC-268. These were runway/airport markings and runway incursion prevention strategies. Second felt with continuation of flight VFR into IFR with accident scenarios. Both were good training and relevant to my operation. Thank you for comments Don.
  7. BUT, if you do "it" for variety, well then THAT is the spice of life.
  8. One man's abuse is another man's pleasure...
  9. This just seems silly to me. Do others feel that flying their plane through maneuvers etc..is "hard on the plane"? I do NOT feel this is plane abuse...Unless you are not landing your plane well and dropping it in/bouncing landings etc... Otherwise: Practice in YOUR plane that YOU fly is a good thing in my book...
  10. Why don't you get back to me with that stat...
  11. I wish I had your enthusiasm about our M20 over other airframes. I just don't. Great plane for the mission, but there are a lot of great planes. My CFI while training, Ryan P was 19, left for US AIR midway through my ticket pursuit. Cost me some money re-doing to other CFI's "technique". As my brother-in-law says: "you'll have that".
  12. That sounds like a great review. 3.5 hours of his time and only $40? That works out to less than $15/hour. Doesn't seem like an adequate amount to me. Is the instructor retired from another job? We also did a simulated engine Fire scenario.
  13. Can you discuss the maneuvers designed to prevent accidents that you do so others may emulate?
  14. The panel clocks were the one item the pilot had to sign for because of their value/precision and probably because they would disappear. If shot down they were to remove the clock. I am sure that was a priority....or not.
  15. Yes. The chronos and resets all work like they should. Took a lot of years of upgrading and trading on Ebay to complete my collection. My son will probably sell them for $5 bucks a piece some day
  16. What is the number of rollers on each seat? I might replace mine too. I recognize Bakelite as an early plastic. Germans made their panel clocks with brass bezels early in war and economies made them switch to the final panel clock model at the end of the war. Here is my collection.
  17. Just did my review: CFI had me do a couple of the ASI courses prior to review and provide certificates of completion. I am VFR and like the hood time so we did a bunch of climbs and descents with turns to compass points. Did Steep turns left and right. Use of trim is huge here. We also did some upset recovery with head between knees. Did five touch and go's two with simulated engine out (push to idle at numbers). He said "You know how to fly this thing, Take me home". What does everybody else do?
  18. My co-owner does it "often" when I fly with him right seat. I find it entertaining. Gives me something to do. I rarely do it now that I am conscious of the likelihood. Could not say what I do differently? Agree that push button is better design. I have zero interest in replacing. Technically it is the pilots action NOT the J-Bar that is doing the "unbuckling". Girth as a contributing factor. Funny.
  19. Especially 50 year old benign neglect things.
  20. My interpretation is: "Even when it is flyable you need to have a continuous bank account. "Things break"
  21. I would NOT be airborne with this machine until it does NOT stumble at idle or full power. It is not safe until this is resolved (on the ground). I agree that this is a small adjustment that when identified will transform the engine into normal solid operation. Until diagnosed and adjusted (Just say NO).
  22. Been there. I have BEEN THERE. Hang tough. My journey was worth it, but I would have been out of plane business without my co-owner. Glad you have a sense of humour. That, a loving wife and an occasional Jack Daniels or a punching bag (to go with your depleting bank account) are nice to have items. Took me a decade.
