Major airlines taking control of ATC
MyNameIsNobody replied to cnoe's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Yup. Is the government protecting individual rights by not allowing individuals to purchase insurance/form groups across state lines, or are they working for lobbyists in Health Care industry? In this case I would argue that existing rule of law is hurting "the people" and supporting large health care insurance carriers. Speaking of monopolistic to big to fail entities...Like Airlines. -
Another bystander blown away by airplane

Those that have been there. I am guessing there is signage to educate on the ramifications of participation? This woman maybe had a few "boat drinks" that Buffet talked about? Maybe needed a friend to say "hey, come over here with me and watch the nuts get blown away by this 747"... Needed Phone a friend lifeline/voice of reason. Curbs are hard. -

Impressive Diatribe. You lost me after the first sentence. Then the words had "that smell". Governments main function is NOT to counterbalance the corporate structure. Were there corporations when the Constitution was written and the United States was formed? The purpose of government is to: Provide for the common defense, Courts and civil liberty. Part of pursuit of liberty is defined by what the government can not (Limitations) do to individuals in their pursuit of happiness. Our country is based on Capitalism. Corporations are made up of individuals seeking their happiness. Of course if you don't like what executives make you can choose, as an individual pursuing your happiness, to not buy their stock or support their business. Suspicious electoral college? Funny. We are a Republic. We have the rule of law. We have elected representatives that we vote to impact our pursuit of happiness. Sorry that East coast West coast voting block didn't work out for you. I'm good. This "Chump" did indeed "win". Debatable? Most definitely. Enjoy your continued pursuit of happiness. I am. -

She made it into her late 50's and then...Darwinian decision. I would enjoy watching this from a distance. Participation? NOPE. (Not even when I woke up in the morning and stuff didn't say "easy big fella") -

FYI you are already "taxed" my man. Every time you click the fuel pump. About as fair a way to dispense a tax for service and infrastructure as I can imagine. You use it you pay. Toll roads are just inefficient. This debate is about control... -

Dave, there is no winning this. I called someone less than what you just did and was banned. The guy that I did that to made it super personal. I dislike him at a level that is not currently able to be measured...but I digress. Just let it go man. I feel where you are coming from here, but no happiness emerges. Most important they are acting out because they are losing in every election and their power has been neutered. I know what that feels like. Take pity, I mean the high road. As stated here, we in GA ALL agree that the monopoly that is Aviation is best controlled by Big G. Every American, not just GA loses if Airlines assume control of the skies. Talk to your elected representatives and let them know how you feel and that you vote. -
Sky Trekker: My "All in" price is somewhere in between Brown and Dave for parts and installation. I paid under .2AMU's for Accu-Trak (part); Found the Accu-Flite on Ebay for about .7 AMU's (Heading Bug and control head/parts). The guy had an F model. A few flights and GUMPed it. Insurance company totaled. He got the units and was reselling them. Brittain had just overhauled. I watched Ebay daily for "deals" while in the "hunt". The altitude hold was about 2.5 AMU's with parts and installation. Found parts on Ebay. Brittain yellow-tagged and installed. Good luck with your search. Now that upgraded (new) Autopilot systems are on the horizon, not sure I would do Brittain again, but VERY satisfied for my use with cross country VFR flights of 2-3 hours being normal mission. NO GPS STEER/approach for these so if doing IFR I would go a different route perhaps? I think the SAM system will integrate but don't think it would be "legal" on approaches?

I have a TC-100 ready if my BI-805 ever 'craps out'. I would consider flying up to Tulsa and participating with Kevin on the install. I rarely use my Accu-Trak, but I use the Accu-Flite every x-country I take. If you already have a GPS the Accu-Trak is a nice solution. My A&P installed both. Brittain overhauled each. I put in the PC disconnect electric solenoid too. It was inexpensive and works great. Need a yoke upgrade to get the switch on the yoke and make the STC from Brittain a "go".

Oshkosh usually has deals on Plexus. They have a cleaner too.

Love my cool scoop and my wife loves the install of a co-pilot ram-air knee vent she can aim/control. I remember as a kid going to golf course with my mom and a friend (of hers) in front seat. Big bumble bee flew in and landed right on my crotch. I must have sworn (out of reflex) and started flailing at it. Thankfully only sting was the dagger of a look from my mom.... Glad yours was unwitnessed

Didn't "hate" the old, but the new AC is fantastic! Enjoy.

Great marketing idea by Lasar. One organization I do not mind receiving marketing information from...

Yes. He was fantastic and really the "true" frontman. Very personable stage presence. Really felt a bond by the end of the show. He is a tremendous guitarist/showman. I have a short video of a portion of his guitar solo on my phone. I will try and attach. A Pink Floyd feel to it that was amazing. IMG_1334.MOV BEA68F15-7808-49EC-A3D3-1BB91ADE842A.MOV

I'm done with the 2,700 RPM climb to cruise
MyNameIsNobody replied to Bartman's topic in General Mooney Talk
I climb at max RPM and 120 indicated because I want the engine to be happy and I want to get to cooler air and cruise configuration more quickly. Do what you want with power on climb, but I think the oil usage because of RPM in climb is likely not "the issue". I don't lean in climb. I like the lower cylinder temps from the fuel. 5-10LOP works out to 297-315 cylinder temps in cruise. I don't see anything over 335 in climb. Oil is cheap compared to an engine. I feed to maintain six indicated. -
How is that gun buyback working out down under? Is there any Mooneyspace member that does not think that fuel tax and no user fees should continue to funding mechanism for GA? Call your reps and tell them often why fuel tax is the answer not privatization.

Mooneys overrepresented in gear ups
MyNameIsNobody replied to TheTurtle's topic in General Mooney Talk
Paul covers reasons well. There are 50+ years of Mooney production. There are a lot of them out there. They are a lower priced entry complex aircraft. This would likely equate to more exposure, number of airframes and entry level lower time pilots. -
My wife and I flew over to see Queen concert (Adam Lambert fronting) in Omaha yesterday afternoon. Flew to KCBF, Council Bluffs and Uber'd. Easy flight at 6500. A couple deviations from flight following for parachuting. Nice FBO. Downtown Omaha was a blast. Nice brew pubs, a cigar bar and a killer Queen show. Return today saw 130 knots in climb (ground speed). Nice and cool at 7500 with DAn Auerbach's new album (Waiting on a song) for entertainment. 153 knots LOP at 9.5gph and smooth. 1.2 for flight vs 4 hour drive. I love GA. I love my Mooney and I love going to great live shows with my bestee...

B&G=Bounce and Go. Yup.
-
In a vintage Mooney there is no "fiddling. The flaps are a small detent that does NOT look like, in any way, the J-Bar.
-
Got it. Although I likely WOULD be doing a touch and go literally if I porpoise as I would be going around without coming to a complete stop...Just say'n.
-
Why would a touch and go be any more likely to result in a prop strike?
-
I have had a GU while doing touch and goes under instruction. I still do them while under instruction. I have an audible gear alert system installed. Land full flaps. Retract flaps. Power in. Ready to rotate with power applied. No flaps on take-off with touch and goes. Except for flight review I don't do them as I do enough flying that I don't need to practice landings. I would NOT recommend them without an audible gear alarm installed. With it? Meh, no big deal.
