  1. Went to fly my ovation today and on start up, above cylinders didn't fire.....worked throttle and mixture in and out a bit and eventually they came alive.....didn't go flying. I did do a high power run up and that was normal. Called my mechanic and going to look at it tomorrow.....our thinking is something in the fuel spider maybe?
  2. I finally figured out how to download....will be doing this in near future.
  3. Maybe post a link so we have some idea of what you are, talking about?
  4. I don't think the Cirrus rate is comparable to the entire GA fleet which includes airplanes with an average age of 40 years and flown by a range of different skill sets. I think a fair comparison would be Mooneys and Bonanazas from the same year vintage. Not knocking Cirrus parachute products and the training that goes with them, but really need apples to apples statistical comparison.
  5. Never happen....it is too cheap....how will the big defense contractors and generals approve something like this?
  6. You guys discussing about how the controls on your desktop PC don't replicate real life have probably never flown a real full motion sim.....controls don't feel exactly right there either. You just have to get used to it and accept it.
  7. And modern car gas is a horrible concoction of chemicals that smells worse. Makes modern avgas feel clean and healthy....... I read somewhere that you couldn't certify mogas, for cars, as it is too dangerous under the current rules of effin' safety and what not. This statement may or may not be true but I read it somewhere or learned it at a bar.
  8. What is the certification issue with G5 and FIKI airplanes? I have seen that reference several places but no understanding of what's what.
  9. Will believe the KI300 When someone actually has one installed.
  10. if Hawk is able to do an excellent job for $11k, why does the average seem to be $15k for mediocre quality jobs?
  11. You summarized it accurately except for the cost....saw on another forum with installation $150k......do we need a new AMU? That kind of money buys a lot of avgas.
  12. I have a 2001 corvette and I was changing the plugs and leaned against some type of vacuum hose feedback system on the intake manifold and cracked it, moved it a little more and than whole damn thing just fell apart in my hands. Age and heat......
  13. I think BK means Q13 2017, thirteenth quarter of 2017....another 3 years is my guess. Personally I wish BK could get it together to offer a product that replaces the KI-256. For the $6000 that buys 2 rebuilds of KI-256 over the years.....would allow these other products to mature a bit and the allow the competitive market to really get it right. But I have no faith, honestly don't know why it is so hard to build a digital KI-256, the outputs are relatively simple, up/down, bank angle and I assume yaw? There can't be a decision tree that complicated? I would have bought a KI-300 and would consider this new product.......but 3Q 2017 is right now.....
  14. BK isn't even in the game....
  15. Where are you guys getting this squawk code info? Is this some additional FF premium feature?
  16. Well mine just started reading on the high side by several hundred degrees....mayne we can combine the 2 and get an average? Sarcasm font. Going to replace with JPI most likely.
  17. I sold my Cessna 152 to Mr. Dean about 2 years ago.....nothing bad to say about the transaction, he was fair and accommodating despite some technical hiccups and weather issues in me delivering the plane. I hope it wasn't my plane.
  18. I live in Richmond as well.....feel free to contact me if you want to grab a beverage or something.
  19. You really probably need a way to get home....always my biggest fear breaking down in some remote location
  20. There was a reference on another article about an explosion or loud bang before the vibration started, which makes sense. Be curious to see what the fan blades look like.
  21. I should have taken a picture.....The Moritz engine clusters are reasonably deep and hide a lot as well. I have an Ovation so don't know how common the plumbing and wiring is back there to a K. I assume the hose ties into some type of manifold but it is a mess of stuff underneath there and the yellow hose just disappears into a mass of wires.
  22. Well spent several hours removing the interior panel, what a PITA.....traced the hose up into the bowels of the instrument panel where it's termination is hidden by lots of wires, cables, instruments, etc.. Any advice on how to to go about getting to to the end?
  23. I hate when you guys post all of this nice interior stuff, and avionics and exterior paint.......Makes my 17 y.o. original stuff look dated.
  24. Maybe a little slower than once per second, it wasn't very fast. But yes they did test the tach sensor and it was "spiking the voltage" and it was replaced. Didn't change anything. I did talk to the tech yesterday and the only thing left is the actual computer which they are unable to test. There is an accelerometer which he is guessing could be generating a noisy signal. Airplane is going in for annual next week, going to have a real hard look at all controls related to pitch before I go on to next step which is bench checking the computer. They didn't have a spare to swap out so didn't get that test option.
  25. My Mooney Ovation with KI-256 and KFC225 autopilot has an issue where it hunts up and down a couple of degrees. It is really annoying. All other functions work, VS, ALT capture, etc. It was varying up about 4 degrees and down not as much, barely perceptible altitude change about 20 feet. I took it to a highly respected autopilot shop, recommended from here and was not impressed with results. They did some work on a pitch trim servo, tested the ADI, tested and blew out static system. They seemed highly confident in each fix, in order I listed but they finally tightened up a spring in the elevator control system and told me it was fixed. I don't believe it is. I fly the plane for long legs, hours at a time and the problem still exists, I think tightening the spring just dampened out the oscillations. More details: The trim doesn't seem to be running during porpoising Same porpoising when left in PIT mode only, not ALT I think it is also porpoising in VS mode but hard to tell I spent $3600 on them testing and replacing parts when the "final solution" was tightening a spring. I do have a call into their expert, but he hasn't called back yet. Is this level of fluctuation just the way it is? I find that hard to believe. I am just trying to educate myself so when I get a return call I can question intelligently. Any feedback appreciated
