  1. I live over in Richmond VA, with my plane based in Arkansas (long story) but if you are ever in RIC area more than happy to meet and have a beer. Or two. Or if I happen to have my plane there we could fly somewhere.
  2. Semi relevant here, but doesn't consider time if the curve starts sloping downward again.
  3. Steve, I am thinking they will "loosen" up, but when I just held them in place for sizing, it about pushes the air filter box up against the exhaust system. I just don't know where the compression would come from as these things are damn near rock hard. I assume they would loosen up with heat and vibration. Will advise after installation.
  4. Almost too cheap to mention..... $48 i say that sarcastically
  5. Got the hoses in.....they seem awfully stiff and looks like they are too long. Bought them from Mr. Maxwell, will shoot him email tomorrow.
  6. Thanks everybody, after much swearing and turning laptop on and off it started working again...... Don has parts on hand. I just like to have some idea what I am talking about before I talk to experts.
  7. I have a 2000 ovation with the 310 upgrade (although I don't think that is relevant), but the right tube has a worn spot and the left one looks like the wire has shifted/broken as you can collapse it with your hand. They are wrapped in what I assume is some type of heat resistant covering. My mechanic says they are probably mooney specific parts. any advice on sourcing these? My laptop just crapped out for some unknown W10 reason so I can't look any details up myself. thank you
  8. This project looks too much like that clock bomber kid from a year ago.......
  9. I hate seeing stuff like this because it makes my 2000 ovation look all worn out and I feel an unnecessary compulsion to spend money. But I am spending money today, I think my encoding altimeter is going sideways, so I have that to look forward to.
  10. I have the same battery sets for a set of Milwaukee power tools, came with 2 batteries. One lasted about 2 years before it failed and the other is going strong 4+ years, don't know if those data points are valid or not. I did buy a replacement cheapo battery for my old Makita from some online battery source, that POS lasted about 90 days..... I think I paid around $90 for the OEM equipment from Milwaukee, this was after the Makita incident.
  11. Because the unicorns that produce the stuff are very fast and have very small t***'s, therefore cost of production is high. Simple economics my friend.
  12. I realize it is a Cessna...stop that I do have him flying a real plane...
  13. Or maybe a conveyor belt.....Or has that been beat to death on other threads?
  14. I don't have a dog in this fight either, just trying to help out fellow aviators..... in any case, I did get the piece and my extrusion guy is going to quote tooling and material at minimum volume. Does anybody have any idea what volume might be on this? Or technical specs on material? And more importantly willing to take charge on collecting orders? As soon as I get numbers I will post. I really don't have time to manage another project but I will provide whatever help I can.
  15. My thoughts on all of these theories of engine management is there just isn't enough controlled testing to prove either way. There are some obviously well thought out theories and supporting evidence that supports and contradicts both sides. Just take care of your stuff and what happens will happen.
  16. You can write off whatever you want, the question is will you get audited (caught....). My accountant says anything that has aviation in the company name has higher chance of being audited. Call the company name something like abc consulting. And don't quote me in your audit please....
  17. I run a manufacturing company and over the years I have had several plastic extrusion dies made. I would be interested in helping find a manufacturer and guide the process to sourcing this. I would estimate tooling cost at about $700, typically I don't pay for that but I buy 100,000's of thousands of lineal feet of extrusion. If someone could get me a 12" sample I would be willing to take to my extrusion and plastics guys and start getting some numbers. No idea on $/ft, but I would guess less than 1$/ft. Based on what I buy and a guess on silicone pricing and that is a wild wild guess.
  18. The big problem is that too many people listen to these celebrity asshats. Obviously nobody on MS is that ignorant, or at least I hope they aren't.
  19. I am getting the feeling my Moritz gauges are about to start giving me troubles and thinking I need to be ready to bite the bullet and replace them. I was wondering if there is room to mount the 900 in the vertical position and remove the new tach(310 upgrade) and the clock? I like to have gauges right in front of me.
  20. Wow we are up to buying two airplanes? CB club out the window on that.
  21. Since we seem to have a pretty smart and diverse experience group of people around here I thought I would get some opinions on security systems. I have a factory plant, about 230,000 sq feet that I want to monitor. I don't need to cover every single square foot and one camera would cover lots of territory in certain cases. I have heard less than complementary things about the in the box solutions and some debate about IP cameras, resolution, etc and so on. If I google it I get about a million different pages from a million different re-sellers. Internet just makes it too damn confusing sometimes. Thanks, Mark
  22. I have a ovation 2 with the 310 hp upgrade and the new primary electronic tachometer but my moritz gauge is showing 3000 rpm plus on TO and eventually settles down to proper reading but still fluctuates a lot, think of it as an average reading.... I really like the moritz gauge and I know they are problematic but before I give up on it completely, anything so I can check easily? Do the independent gauges use the same sensor? I suspect the gauge is bad, but really trying to avoid that scenario.
  23. Steven, well it flys outdoors (sorry I am a smart ass), otherwise it is hangared. I think it was installed about 4 years ago and I believe has been hangared most of its life, at least since TKS install. The boots seem to be well attached, just looking weathered. Although it looks like some of the channels are eroding a bit, i.e. they aren't clean smooth, just have a lot of roughness to them. Wondering if anything should be done to maintain them.
  24. I have one of them fancy TKS deicer/anti-icer contraptions on my plane and the rubber slinger portion of the prop is starting to look weather aged. The system isn't that old and I am curious if anything should be used or more importantly SHOULD NOT be used to maintain this probably very expensive piece of rubber. I don't recall seeing any references in the AFM but I am having this random thought while working in office. And beat the hell out of Arkansas. (college football reference for those unaware) Thanks, Mark
  25. The Swift STCs are not cheap: $350 is not an uncommon number. It's too bad that neither EAA or AOPA is involved in these STCs. If they were I would hope that they could negotiate lower costs. $350 is cheap barely registers on the aviation scale. My opinion only.
