  1. Does it go above 380? If not I wouldn't worry about it
  2. I would have it IRANed by an expert technician, might prevent further problems
  3. Do me favor, let me know when you are going to buy stocks [emoji1]
  4. So that means there will be planes flying banners? I assume they will have to maintain 1500 ft since that area is populated, isn't that a little high for banner planes?
  5. When I was looking I went to controller.com and other sites, kept track of all planes of the model I was interested in, which sold and those that didn't. After a few months, I could quickly tell which were overpriced and which would sell quickly. I spent 6 months window shopping before I ever looked at plane up close.
  6. Why did he give them permission to replace them, annuals are not a blank check for them to do whatever they want?
  7. I saw chart of GA plane prices, there was a steep drop the last 2 years, my sense is it has bottom out, but vref was always high a year ago, it may be accurate now, or at least closer.
  8. I just replaced my Gill, it was old but seem ok, try a hot start and it failed, when they go it can be quick
  9. I would just periodically turn on the BM, you can use a 24 timer to turn it on for an hour per day, that should be more than enough
  10. I like to see more pictures of both, esp interiors
  11. Occasionally the problem is with the customer not the business, sometimes we let emotions poison a relationship, We've only heard one side of the story, I think many are reluctant to condemn others based on 1 opinion alone.
  12. I would add an indicator light if you are moving the engine monitor to the right stack, so if an alarm is triggered you'll know it
  13. I have used Daytona Services for both annual and specialized Mooney maintenance, no issues
  14. Depends on how efficient the heat exchanger is
  15. I still don't understand, if they haven't started, then you owe them nothing (you said they haven't turn a wrench), invest the time to get a ferry permit, fly the plane to a new mechanic, move on. If they haven't done any work, you owe nothing, only a few weeks of flying time is lost. Sounds like a hostile relationship and it's not going to get better on its own.
  16. You can still get a ferry permit, not a problem. See http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=3161588783001
  17. FYI, if it's the power supply you might want to consider the new LED strobes...no power supply required
  18. Definitely take it to a Mooney shop, I took mine to a MSC. I let my local mechanic do the light work but having a 2nd shop go over your plane can't be a bad thing
  19. Regarding 2., yes if you add Flightstream 210 box
  20. What's the range the Rockets?
  21. First, the GTN 650 is about 12-14k installed, not north of 20k, you don't need a 650 to fly VFR, but makes flying IFR airways nice, no more entering a bunch of VORs that make up the airway. And if only flying to destinations you can see from your rooftop you should buy an experimental, save cost of avionics and pricey maintenance. It may be a go cart with wings but it's mine, and I am proud of it, and when I'm done, it will be exactly what I want, nothing more, nothing less, and if I win the lottery I won't be selling my plane.
  22. I don't think anyone is advocating letting you engine maintenance go for the sake of a GPS GTN is anything but stupid, is it necessary no, but it's nice to have...you know what you don't need, is an airplane! The airplane is a luxury and any money you spend on it is waste. Personally I enjoy the modern equipment, makes it a bit safer in my opinion and you won't see me complaining about it, or discouraging anybody else, I say go for, upgrade it then fly the wings off!
  23. Really? Does your tablet have radios? Does it do VOR navigation? Does it monitor engine performance or fuel flow? Tablets are great but comparing a full panel to a tablet is comparing apples and oranges
  24. Same plane, I would live in an air park [emoji2]
  25. I agree completely but will add that vintage Mooneys have a lower ceiling, so your ROI or losses will be less with J or better as the upside is higher
