  1. I would just periodically turn on the BM, you can use a 24 timer to turn it on for an hour per day, that should be more than enough
  2. I like to see more pictures of both, esp interiors
  3. Occasionally the problem is with the customer not the business, sometimes we let emotions poison a relationship, We've only heard one side of the story, I think many are reluctant to condemn others based on 1 opinion alone.
  4. I would add an indicator light if you are moving the engine monitor to the right stack, so if an alarm is triggered you'll know it
  5. I have used Daytona Services for both annual and specialized Mooney maintenance, no issues
  6. Depends on how efficient the heat exchanger is
  7. I still don't understand, if they haven't started, then you owe them nothing (you said they haven't turn a wrench), invest the time to get a ferry permit, fly the plane to a new mechanic, move on. If they haven't done any work, you owe nothing, only a few weeks of flying time is lost. Sounds like a hostile relationship and it's not going to get better on its own.
  8. You can still get a ferry permit, not a problem. See http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=3161588783001
  9. FYI, if it's the power supply you might want to consider the new LED strobes...no power supply required
  10. Definitely take it to a Mooney shop, I took mine to a MSC. I let my local mechanic do the light work but having a 2nd shop go over your plane can't be a bad thing
  11. Regarding 2., yes if you add Flightstream 210 box
  12. What's the range the Rockets?
  13. First, the GTN 650 is about 12-14k installed, not north of 20k, you don't need a 650 to fly VFR, but makes flying IFR airways nice, no more entering a bunch of VORs that make up the airway. And if only flying to destinations you can see from your rooftop you should buy an experimental, save cost of avionics and pricey maintenance. It may be a go cart with wings but it's mine, and I am proud of it, and when I'm done, it will be exactly what I want, nothing more, nothing less, and if I win the lottery I won't be selling my plane.
  14. I don't think anyone is advocating letting you engine maintenance go for the sake of a GPS GTN is anything but stupid, is it necessary no, but it's nice to have...you know what you don't need, is an airplane! The airplane is a luxury and any money you spend on it is waste. Personally I enjoy the modern equipment, makes it a bit safer in my opinion and you won't see me complaining about it, or discouraging anybody else, I say go for, upgrade it then fly the wings off!
  15. Really? Does your tablet have radios? Does it do VOR navigation? Does it monitor engine performance or fuel flow? Tablets are great but comparing a full panel to a tablet is comparing apples and oranges
  16. Same plane, I would live in an air park [emoji2]
  17. I agree completely but will add that vintage Mooneys have a lower ceiling, so your ROI or losses will be less with J or better as the upside is higher
  18. I'm not sure about the Aero Comfort route, in another thread, someone said they just cover your old panels. My plastic is pretty old, and has some cracks in it, I think I prefer to replace as oppose to just covering or repainting? Plus there is some stuff I like to remove, like microphone holder and ashtrays.
  19. The Concorde version uses different voltage settings for charging. If you are flying regularly I would not use any supplemental charging, some say it's not good for the battery to always be under charge, but it also masks a bad battery
  20. Does Aero Comfort do their own panels? Or do all these interior shows get panels from suppliers like Airtex?
  21. I had the same problem with the 700, and KNS 80...several of the segments were not working, I chocked it up to old age. I believe they are not LEDs, but are gas discharge displays.
  22. I have a 78 J, occasionally my JPI warns me when I exceed the 50 degrees per min threshold, I think the max I've seen is 60, but I don't worry about it, if I got to a 90 I would.
  23. Either a software problem web browser or the page created by MS web software would be my guess. You could try Firefox or Chrome browsers to see if they work for you
  24. New?! GTNs have been out for 3 years IIRC
  25. Well I had a professional do the work, but I wrote the check
