  1. Maybe he has a backup vacuum pump (electric)?
  2. If you pull the speed brake CB, they should forcibly retract, I had a similar problem, had mine adjusted and greased.
  3. Unless the plane was softly landed because the suicidal pilot was trying to cover his tracks, then the plane may be mostly intact on the bottom of the ocean. The piece may be aluminium on outside, with composite on the inside, maybe honeycomb structure with plenty of air pockets.
  4. Just to be clear, you can't see because they are close to the fuselage, and blocked by the door.
  5. Considering you are limited to US only, I'm surprised they went with the small numbers
  6. Actually, if you look closely, the inside of the left nose gear door has a smudge on it [emoji6], so go for it.
  7. Capitalist ! If you are a real CBs, y'all would jack your plane up to take the weight off, they would last much longer.
  8. Down south we have a lot of military areas, the airways keep you clear of them. ATC will generally ask if I want to go direct if they're cold. Going direct vs airways generally only saves you about 5% on longer trips so I usually file airways unless there is a big shortcut.
  9. I didn't know they had Photoshop back then? [emoji4]
  10. Yetti, I think your L key is broken, your 'l' are '1'
  11. If I'm not close to my approach speed by 500' Ive done something horribly wrong and won't compound the error by trying to save the landing. There are worst things than flying the pattern to get settled and properly configured. Of course I can cheat, I have speed brakes [emoji2]
  12. I have both, paper is outdated, but I still used them for planning purposes as well as emergency backup, GPilot on both IPad & iPhone.
  13. That's retail, if you got 100 MSers and order 1100 from the manufacturer, I wonder how much they would be?
  14. This is why I replaced tail position light with brighter LED position/strobe combo.
  15. Carl, pls give us a PIREP when you are done. I'm thinking of taking it this later this year.
  16. Yes, but you have to lean far over to see the right side.
  17. Did you check the fuel pressure? After start, as you lean, does it go down? I assume you get book values for FF at cruise?
  18. 350 total, just a few hours shy of 200 in a Mooney....if this was golf I'd have the best score.
  19. PO did that, I was always confused between the annunciator light and the green floor indicator. In my case, sometimes the floor indicator light is on, sometimes it's off.
  20. I wonder if Aspen is going to charge extra for it, like the AOA indicator?
  21. I assume the rack will have a big hole in it where the radio once was, the adjuster works for the insurance company, if I was the adjuster i would be asking you some tough questions. Not to mention the logs, paperwork will list what equipment has been installed in the plane. I wonder how much jail time insurance fraud gets your these days?
  22. From the album: Misc

78 M20J at 11500' full throttle and about 30 LOP Good news: I'm making book numbers, TAS was 152K, not bad. Bad news: I have every speed mod: internal antennas, fairings, hinge&gap seals, 1 piece belly, low drag gear doors...according to marketing dept I should get an extra 16K, maybe it was because my plane was dirty :-) Bottom line: Don't waste your $ on speed mods for J or later models (my plane came with them).
