  1. So its all there. Does that mean if your airframe fits the eligibility list your local IA can make the changes and sign it off?
  2. Flew from MfR to Bfl and then on to DVT today. From Sac on down to BFL smoke was pretty thick, no foward viz, but straight down you could see the ground. Had to fly the ILS at BFL. Leaving BFL it was IMC until crested the mountains on the way to PMD. California was nasty today.
  3. >2) possibly contributing is the center column that is digging into the side of my right calf. Putting padding on that corner or wearing a soccer shin guard would just make the space even smaller so… I'm not a big guy but have had a J model for 20+ years and have had the same problem also. I have a small hard bound ledger book that I record flights, gas etc. It"s just the right size to put between my leg and the center column. Has only been a problem for me on longer flights - I think if you get creative as you suggest you can overcome that annoyance. All you need is something flat to protect your leg from the corner. Some good ideas already mentioned on seats, if your plane is 20+ years old and the seat has never been rebuilt that is an area that might need attention.
  4. Smart glide has other pre-requisites other than just the txi box. Research carefully to not be disappointed.
  5. +1 for that and be prepared tp take 135-140 based on your description.
  6. I like that idea
  7. I just had several rusted screws on my stall strips replaced at annual. Mech had to drill a couple out. He said they were long screws that go to riv-nuts.
  8. sign me up and send me a link - thanks and thats two S50's in a row.
  9. Where is the member map? I,ve looked but don’t find a link to it?
  10. Cost for TC can vary, regular old TC not so bad. Now if you have an STEC autopilot cost will go way up as it provides attitude info to the STEC unit.
  11. Great Job - Thanks!
  12. Using IPAd, this screen and main forum screen could be bigger
  13. Make option to increase font size
  14. Does not do a damn thing. Before I posted I looked around to see if the software was half way intelligently designed. Found that option and switched on. Does nothing to make forum lists, etc larger. This is another example of a “step backwards” software release. As a retired computer systems guy I am embarrassed for the developers that released this.
  15. What happened, look and feel changed, fonts too small
  16. Over on BeechTalk Garmin announced a new release of Garmin Pilot v10.4 It makes some improvements to viewing Notams and makes a major change to the Briefing Output. For the briefing output what they apparently did was change it to display the Leidos briefing output format. So I setup and planned a simple trip of about 100 miles. The output I got was sixty pages, all in long translated format for metars, tafs and a lot of other graphics stuff that takes a lot of pages to display. Compared to the old format its going to take a lot more time to read and assimilate the information. I do not like this for the EFB - if I wanted a briefing like this I would use the computer. The old format was not perfect, but it was a lot easier to navigate to get at information. In flight the new one is going to be a disaster. I am sending Garmin a recommendation to set an option in the Settings to either use the new or old format depending on user preference. For those of you that use this please send them for feedback, pro or con also: gpfeedback@garmin.com -------------------------------- Editted to put correct release 10.4, you can get it for update at app store
  17. Talk to spencers at Kplu,they did a guys J with 2 g5,s and a 4 servo gfc500, he was quite happy
  18. From Flightaware FAQ's: What is a position-only flight? SHARE | BACK TO TOP A position-only flight is a flight for which FlightAware has not received a filed flight plan (for example an airline flight that doesn't report its flight schedule to FlightAware or a VFR flight). In those cases, if we receive position reports via ADS-B or another source, the flight can be trackable as a position-only flight. Note that position-only flights do not have a filed origin, destination, or route, and the aircraft may enter and leave areas of coverage throughout the flight. Are you ADSB out, if so run an ADSB check and see if its working. I have a J model and fly in both SEA and PHX are and all flights are tagged by Flightware
  19. +1 for Jake in daytona, he did my J
  20. 3) Ditch the switch and use the new lighted button (seen above) I'd vote for number 3 - I do believe STC call for a light of some kind somewhere to indicate on or off. They are tested to be OK if only one is deployed. (Just read previous post - they must have changed the lighting requirement - my '90 J just had one light center panel above yoke). check your install instructions on your new yokes and see what it says.
  21. Do you use the flaps on approach? If so try it without them. Flap motor could be going bad and emitting emf or voltage spike.
  22. Lookingat it again, it looks to me like it had an engine compartment fire with soot streaking back past wings
  23. Sweet looking Mooney, have fun!
  24. What do you think this does to resale value?
