SquawkLog Maintenance Software

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Over the last year, I've been searching for a good software solution to better manage my Mooney.  All that I found was some web subscription products that was more geared toward large fleets and not us Part 91 aircraft owners.  I've been using spreadsheets and that was getter really old.  So started working with a software developer to create one.

My goal was to create something that would keep my data on my computer, not some cloud system that there's no telling what they can and will do with your data.  So I wanted to control my data.  I considered developing something for the iPad but since this is a serious database application, it's not suited for a mobile device entirely (more on that in a minute).  SO the first release is a MS Windows version.  I've been using it for a few months and it's all but eliminated my spreadsheets.

For anyone that might be interested in it, here's the website for it: www.squawklog.com  There's a free demo version available.  The regular price is $129.95 but for the next couple of months it's on sale for $99.95.  For MooneySpace users, you can use a discount coupon code of: mooney50 and get an additional $50 off for the next 30 days.  So with the discount coupon and launch discount price, you can pick it up for just $49.95.  This is a one time purchase, no monthly charges.  You buy it. you own it!

Futures

Currently being developed is a companion iPad solution that can be used to collection hours, squawks, maintenance items, etc. while at your aircraft.  This would sync with the PC version.  Also, for those that REALLY think they have to have it completely mobile, we're looking at porting it over to the iOS/Android devices.

We're also actively making enhancements to the product so any suggestions would be seriously considered as SquawkLog evolves.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

You can do the same thing plus flight logging with Log Ten Pro.  You can set up any category you want to watch from an hours standpoint, you can self-define the category, and then enter your flights.  The results show up immediately on the iPad.  I would not use the iPad as the primary log for logging pilot time, but works fine for aircraft maintenance logging (how many hours on that oil change?).  Gets backed up to your computer when the iPad is synced.

I looked at Log Ten Pro and it's a great Pilot logbook app if you have a Mac but for what I wanted to do, it was lacking on the tracking of components, systems, currency, etc side of things.  SquawkLog is developed from the ground up to track and manage virtually anything on your aircraft.  You can literally setup a Virtual Hobbs Meter (VHM) for anything on the aircraft that you want to track hours on.

Give it a try... The price is right. :)
