I searched around before asking and could only find a thread that referenced the vernier prop and mixture controls.  Has anyone had their throttle friction lock wear out?  When my throttle lock is completely tightened, I can still slide the throttle in and out easily.  The biggest problem with this is that the vibrations cause it to slowly back out in flight.  I am having to keep one hand on the throttle to keep it from moving.

It seems to me that the nylon compression ring has just worn out over time.  Anyone know if this can be replaced or if a new throttle cable assembly is the only option?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff,

My throttle friction lock consists of a phenolic tube with a slit running lengthwise allowing it to collapse while gripping the throttle shaft. It's a very simple part to replace without having to spend a ton of money on a new cable not to mention the cost of a mechanic to replace it. Good luck.

Update on my Throttle Lock.

My mechanic called and said there was a bushing in the lock assembly that he was able to remove and re-install in the opposite direction.  He said that it is now holding the throttle in place.  I'll give it a try like this and see how long it lasts.
