I had one speed break hang up on retraction until below 125kts. Any one had a similar experience or know the solution? I suspect lubrication. Thanks

I had that and I thought it was due to icing.  It turned out that my cables had stretched and they needed to be replaced.  They should probably be inspected.

Skyking,

Search for speed brakes...

Just a week or two ago there was a recent thread on the subject. You might find some good experience.

Do you have electric or vacuum driven?

Best regards,

Lack of lubrication or failure of the drain tube usually creats this problem. You can try to lube the gears but often the electric motor dies. Time to send the unit back to Precise Flight for a rebuild.

Skyking, I had a similar problem. Left speedbrake would not come down fully until I slowed down. What I finally realized, was that it came down when I lowered the landing gear. What was happening, was the speed brake cable, that goes through the gear wheel well, was hanging up on the tire because the cable sleeve was compromised. Also, for some reason, the cables were shortened when my LR tanks were installed. I replaced the cables and sleeves.

Make sure all of the screws are there that are located around the speed brake housing.  I had a partial retraction on one of mine and noticed that the brake that was not fully retracting had two screws missing.  I replaced them and have not had another problem since.  Maybe coincidence but then again maybe not.
