Mcstealth Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 Hey you techie types. How do you get to the back side of this green board? Being the CB I am, I want to check the connection of the telephone wire to the back side of this panel. After three remotes all having the same symptoms, I am now leaning to a disconnect on one of the four wires of the telephone wires. I can't get the green board to move though. I just don't want to spend another $1000 in this annual to upgrade to a 406 ELT. Quote

philiplane Posted June 28 Report Posted June 28 Those old ACK ELT's are troublesome. The boards suffer from weak solder joints, and the G switches are temperamental. Definitely don't buy their slide-in 406 mhz ELT-04 replacement. They are just as bad. Bite the bullet and get an Artex ELT345. 1 Quote
kortopates Posted June 29 Report Posted June 29 I’ve been lucky, my ACK 406 has been flawless for probably 15 years. If you want. you can pull defective ELT, placard it and fly it for 90 days before you have to replace it, per 91.207 F 10Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
PT20J Posted June 29 Report Posted June 29 My ACK 406 is ten years old and works fine. I might call ACK for advice. The owner has been helpful in the past. 1 Quote
Pinecone Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 When I did my avionics upgrade, the ship suggested getting rid of the ACK and switching to the Artex. He said the ACK were subject to random activations. I have the ACK 406 ELT if anyone is interested. 1 Quote
