cliffy Posted May 14, 2025 Report Posted May 14, 2025 Someone who doesn't post here anymore used the red/brown D shaped foam weather strip from the aviation isle at Home Depot with good success years ago. 1
Gee Bee Aeroproducts Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 We have a new BST silicone sponge that we're extruding based on the original Mooney extrusion Two different seals will be available based on the compression requirements. The baggage door for the Beech is done to replace rubber foam Beech shown Also shown is the Beech ADS seal and the original in silicone grey customer says the correct seal allows door to close . Its the same spec we use on Mu2 and TBM
Mark89114 Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 I bought the Knots 2 u seal, believe it is STC/PMA or something like that. Needless to say it is garbage. Already dry rotting after 5 years. It never worked well from the start, that might be due to Mooney door, installation error (me) or some other unknown cause. I am tempted to go the home depot route on next replacement.
Gee Bee Aeroproducts Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 Material You get what you pay for ams3345 13k-18k per door seal We just finished 50 sets of T34 canopy seals per print .
DCarlton Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 If I were to list requirements for a door seal, my top requirement would be to not have to pull hard on the interior door strap to close the door. There's nothing really robust to pull on in the Mooney. I've already replace my strap and one of the aluminum strap attachment brackets.

Few hundred utility doors per year with rain seal . Those D shaped gaskets look like they would be really effective if they're soft enough that you can close the door without a lot of force. As a side note, I've thrown aftermarket gaskets in the trash too for my '73 Camaro and started over. Couldn't get the door to close properly. Same problem... different platform.
Gee Bee Aeroproducts Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 BST silicone foam We can mold the foam for hinges tso for beech 1997.50 set of five Happy Holidays
