King A/P audible test tone?

I just purchased a 1996 J.   During transition training when we ran the King A/P preflight check the lights blinked as planned.  My instructor thought there was also supposed to be audible beeps to confirm a successful test although I couldn’t find this in the POH A/P preflight instructions.   Any other J owners out there with KAP-150 can confirm if your autopilot ‘beeps’ at preflight.   Thanks.

It's not in the POH, it's in the King KFC 150 manual.  I have a KFC 200 and it's basically the same.

Here's the key section: To perform a test - momentarily push the test button: 1. All annunciator lights, the trim light and autopilot light will illuminate. 2. The trim light will flash 4 times. 3. The annunciator legends will be blank, an aural tone will beep (approx. 6 times) and the "AP light will flash (approx. 12-13 times) and go off. (If the AP light fails to flash you will be unable to engage the autopilot.) 4. The KC 191 display will go blank.

Sonalert is in the overhead. You should also hear it when you disengage the autopilot. If not, I’d check the sonalert.

The KFC-150 in my J beeps five times if all's well -or- forever (or until I pull the CB) if something causes it to not pass its self test.  This happens for instance if somehow the Elec. Trim power switch is inadvertently switched off.  That's actually a good way to test your sonalert.
