rturbett
While giving a close look at the engine compartment during an oil change, I saw the left cylinders were missing this part. It's the rod that connects the lower metal baffles- there are mounting holes there, but no hardware. While I will have the local shop address, my question for the group is "where do I find the part number"? I've looked through the engine diagrams and mooney parts diagram, but cant find the engine baffling system. any hints on where to look? Thanks, Rob
KSMooniac
Those should be baffle springs, and I believe might be Lycoming part numbers. Sent from my motorola edge plus 2023 using Tapatalk

EricJ
They're part of the engine and appear in the parts catalog for the engine. They're not hard to make if necessary, but the parts and springs, etc., should be fairly easy to find.
PT20J
The engine baffles (except the inter-cylinder baffles) are part of the airframe so they are in the Mooney IPC. That threaded rod isn’t right.
PT20J
LASAR shows them for $73.85 ea. Often people make them from a hardware store spring and some piano wire.

Interesting, No idea about M20J but my '67 F has threaded rods to hold the baffles. when installing the engine, I bought new threaded rods at Tacoma Screws and cut to the size. The old ones were quite warn. Do you have a picture of the springs for M20J?
