William Munney Posted February 28, 2024 Report Posted February 28, 2024 (edited) Gents: UPDATE on the DIY Interior/ refurbish project for the 1996 Mooney Ovation. Got the interior removed, all the screws labeled, and everything vacuumed and pretty clean in there. I was amazed and a bit disappointed at the amount of rivets and rivet parts and miscellaneous screws left in the airplane from the original construction. The side panels and arm rests are covered in leather. Crème and black. All burn certified. Diamond stitch. The pictures of the seat backs are early construction for fit. They are not on the frame yet, have not had foam added and no heat applied yet. They will be full of foam and taught when complete. Used some existing foam and the fancy astronaut stuff from Aircraft Spruce. Headrest logos. I like the old logo and that’s what’s on the yoke. Carpet is all wool (black) from Porsche (Caymen). It’s out for burn certification. Had the dings removed from the spinner and then polished it on a lathe. (Originally painted white) Painting the seat frames black. Probably gloss. Looking for a center console vent cover (missing). Or, I’ll have a friend 3D print one. The fiberglass intake is rebuilt and painted. (Forgot to take pictures) Rebuilt the engine baffles and painted them. (High Temp) Propeller and Governor Overhauled. Exhaust rebuilt as new. Brand new IO550 going on this week. Several smaller items to go. Hope to be flying by the end of March. Edited February 29, 2024 by William Munney Quote
