Hello, everyone! Forgive me if this is not the proper channel.  I'm looking for a Sidewinder tug for my Mooney and Facebook seems hell-bent on letting scammers run the show.  I have had several fake profiles try to sell me units, but not one has been trustworthy enough to move forward with a deal. A few even blocked me when I asked for more photos, and one just changed their name entirely.. as if I wouldn't notice.  Strange.

Anyway, I'm looking for a Redline Aviation (the newer kind) version of the Sidewinder Tug for my M20E.  If anyone is selling one, or knows a reputable source, point me in their direction! My hangar is up a little hill, and over a small lip, and I find that pushing the plane back with my simple tug bar is not as well-controlled as I'd like it to be.

I bought one straight from Redline last year.  Works great and no worry of scammers.

I assume you know that's an option and are just trying to save a little money?  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  They seem to sell really fast when posted here and on other aviation websites.  You could keep an eye out over at Beechtalk.com as well.  Good luck.

Also, Redline will sell you the part that is aircraft specific.  So if you see a good deal on one that is not for a Mooney, it may still be worth it.

When they are up for sale, they go fast, like in hours so you have to check often. Also, there is not a huge discount on used. A new one is usually just a few hundred more.

I bought one off a member here about 6 weeks ago. My hangar is also slightly up hill and only 40' wide so I needed a controlled way to get my J in. I paid $1500 and I think new they are about $2200. Even if you need to pay the $2200 I highly recommend them. They are worth every penny in my opinion. Hanger rash on a wingtip or a screwed up back is way worse than paying the money in the grand scheme of aviation.

Thanks, everyone! I was figuring it would cost about $1500 or more, and yeah they do seem to be short-lived on the market.  I'm still looking, but I do want to get something better than my manual tow bar.  No hangar rash, please!
