DCarlton Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 Curious. Was there ever a time when M20 exhausts pipes were partially recessed into that cupped area in the bottom of the cowl? Have they ever trailed more in the direction of the airflow? If not, what's the purpose of that concave cupped area behind the exhaust? Just wondering if my exhaust tail pipe angle is optimal. Thanks. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 If you loosen the ball joint and the muffler hanger and massage it a bit, you can get it a lot tighter up there. 1 Quote

Need to take another look on the other side with the cowl flaps closed. I was fixated on the exhaust which didn’t seem efficiently aligned with the airflow. Quote
Nokomis449 Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 My G looked similar until I replaced the entire exhaust system with one from Knisley Welding. The Knisley sticks out even further, to the point the guys I formation fly with tell me I can't refer to the G as a "she" any more. Yet I picked up a few knots with the switch. Quote
