  1. Mooneyspace to the rescue! Strange but the installer setup notes were totally different to the Garmin instructions. I did the settings now according to the Garmin instructions and voila! It started working! Thank You for the nudge in the right direction!
  2. I had my non-waas 530 overhauled but it also wiped out all of the configurations. Now, it does not want to talk to my G5’s. I can get GPS on the G5 but not VLOC. Here’s the screenshots of the settings, any suggestions as to what could be wrong? I’ve naturally had my mechanic who did the install check it out and replicate the install settings but still no joy. Any suggestions what else to try?
  3. Ugh, AI could get mad at you if you don’t speak nicely Agreed that this dinosaur doesn’t have a mind of its own but two days earlier it worked fine and now completely haywire. Something broke, but what?
  4. I have a non-WAAS 530 that suddenly started acting weird. At startup, it first wasn’t acquiring satellites and then rebooting by itself over and over again after it got to the satellite aquisition page. Self test was normal each time. Then after about 5 times of doing that, I shut down the system and restarted everything, it found the satellites but it would not show distance to anything and the fuel flow went from gal’s to pounds. Once airborne it started showing distance only about a mile and a half from the waypoint and only in feet, not nm. I tried accessing the configuration page but it immediately rebooted itself. I’m guessing it’s a software issue but wondered if anyone had better ideas?
  5. YouTube Video: Upgrading my Mooney Panel
  6. Battery is from previous owner, at least two maybe three years old. Gonna need to check the logs. Hmm.. if it’s not “normal” then gonna get my A&P looking into it. Weird thing is that at cruise it’s making good power, so just idle is causing issues. Thanks for all the responses!
  7. Only the rotating beacon, but I had switched the fuel boost pump off a while earlier after startup, could that kill the voltage so severely?
  8. When idling on the ground at 1000rpm, my JPI has now on several occasions flashed a low voltage warning, showing 12V or dropping to 11.8V. When I do my run up and at takeoff/cruise power it shows between 13.8 and 14V. So, is that normal or what could be failing? Battery or alternator or? Thanks in advance!
  9. I called and got stuck in the robo-answering machine hell, next time I called and got a “exceeded number of lines” auto response before it even connected. On their website, they have a chat feature, chatted with someone who took my details, then they followed up with a question about my plane serial, told them it’s not relevant to the question and that it’s a ‘67 M20F and have heard crickets since. if anyone knows a direct number to a human there, would appreciate it!
  10. The FBO in Gwinnett had a change in ownership, on Apr 3rd Sheltair took over but during that transition, I guess Gwinnett Aero ran out of fuel and didint get more before Sheltair took over. Kinda of a weird circumstance and only found out about it the day before going to SnF. There's fuel now.. I wouldnt say its reasonably priced but for our trip, there truly was none to be had.
  11. The more I get to know the Mooney folks, the more intimidated I feel about posting videos on Mooneyspace, I'm a total newb to the Mooney world and not an expert in Mooney's by any measure. But I'm a glutton for punishment, and feel like I have a story to tell. And I kinda like doing it, something about the creative process. Anyways, here's the latest adventure where we were short on time, trying to get down to SnF before the TFR and as so often, there were challenges.. https://youtu.be/q4MI9OTRJXI
  12. 1967 M20F So I'll be embarking on a small panel upgrade, the old panel has that angle in it, the new one will be flat. But, I'm assuming some spacers will be needed to fit the panel properly? Anyone else done this and have knowledge of what is needed for hardware? Much appreciate the comments from folks who've done this already! Thanks!
