tuccio Posted September 18, 2023 Report Posted September 18, 2023 Hi all. Does anyone have any experience taking advantage of this AC (applies to pre 1980 aircraft only) when they had a hard time finding replacement parts on their aircraft? Looking to take advantage of it on my 1979 M20K for some landing gear springs. Thanks in advance for the replies! Quote

Andy95W Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 There are some things that might be best not experimented with. Landing gear springs are in that category (IMO). There are sufficient wrecked Mooneys out there that don’t need theirs anymore- salvage yards have them. @Alan Fox is our local Mooney salvage guy. 2 Quote
Pinecone Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 FYI, it applies to aircraft with a TYPE CERTIFICATE dated prior to 1980. So all M20s (except possibly the Ultras) are included. Quote

This is one of those things that might be okay right up to the moment when it's not. Why risk your airplane? Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 What is wrong with your springs? Did one break? Quote
Denis Mexted Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 What the story with gear springs (or bungees as Mooney likes to call them) ? I’ve had some on order for a while, but none are forth coming. My old ones I left in stripper for ages and paid them no respect thinking I was getting new ones. Quote
cliffy Posted September 21, 2023 Report Posted September 21, 2023 Can you avail yourself of this AC with your country of registration? Exactly which "bungees" are you referring to? Where are they located? I would think that a good glass bead blast and paint would be all that was needed. Quote
