EDM830 ordered from Our own AeroDon today. :)

Received EDM830.  Great price from AeroDon, even with PayPal fees :(.  Bought a PS Engineering PS7000 audio panel (had one in Missile) from Bass (Colorado) used and a 795 for panel mount on co-pilot side. (also from a Mooneyspacer). Will mount in an AirGizmo panel mounton co-pilot side.    Found out the old Brittain heading A/P unit works. That is a nice plus as don't need the Accu-Flite and DG (I have an Aspen).  The old King GPS is giving a flag error?  I plan to remove it.

Got a couple more hours in the plane.  I turned on the Brittain heading on trip out.  Was like 50 degrees magnetic.  Did not notice it, so didn't turn off.  On climb out I kept getting off course.  Then realized heading bug was moving me to 50 degrees I had set.  Adjusted and end of issue...

Love the plane so far.  Never flew in a two blade prop Mooney as first E was McCauley and Missile had a three blade.  I Love it.  I still see 1000' initial climb.  I can climb this bird at 110 instead of 120 and oil and cylinder temps are fine.  Must have really good baffling and efficient oil cooler on 480 hour roller engine.  Me happy.

Diagnosis please.  If left brake is solid (Great action and NOT spoongy) and your right brake IS (Not great action and spoongy) what is likely cause/solution?

I’d say most likely the problem is you have air in your right brake line, an issue with your right master cylinder or both.

I figured it was the master cylinder.  I had those done on last plane.  New brake lines and shock biscuits shortly before purchase.  Could be air in the right line too, right?

Duh, you said that :)

I had a similar problem which was resolved by bleeding air out of the brake line.

Me too. Had to do it twice, it came back fairly quick.

If that E was based in the Dakotas any length of time, it was either maintained at one time and/or sold by the Pietsch family in Minot ND. They started a Mooney dealership in 1956 and I think some of the family still works on Mooneys to this day. I used to live in Grand Forks, ND.

Wow! Thank you for posting! I earned my private pilot’s license in December 1980 at Pietsch Flying Service in Minot, ND. My flight instructor was Meric Murphy, and Mrs Pietsch was still working the counter if my memory serves.

Scott- @Echo- if you pump the right brake, does the pressure come up and then act almost normal?  If so, and if it’s not leaking anywhere, it’s almost certainly air in the system.

Keep us posted!

I’d check first if the flex brake line does not leak near the point where it attaches to the caliper, by the wheel. On my last plane it was a very tiny leak, small enough that it took two years until I was finally able to see liquid coming out, and only by trying to get the brake to hold pressure while bleeding it.

After having a really challenging time finding an avionics shop to complete work I did find a "part-time" installer to take on my request which include: Adding an EDM830 on pilot side of panel, relocating a Com radio to center stack and installing a PS Engineering Stereo intercom.  While plane is being worked on (since mid-February and scheduled for end of March completion) I removed seats and installed new lap belts (Alpha) that have shoulder harness connection and new seat rollers.  I also re-did the arpet (Airtex) in baggage area (forward carpets will be pulled when back in hanger and replaced).  I had yokes powder-coated and pilot yoke now has push to talk in place of pc disconnect that is now on panel.  Fitting Aera in the co-pilot panel is prooving to be a challenge as I have to retain OEM tach and MP/Fuel pressure that are large gauges.  (No primary small solution for fuel pressure :( that would create more room).  The guts of the Aspen were mounted above the radio so having to re-locate that as well.  Hoping to also have a gear alert and stall audible alert installed as well as an additional power (cigarette lighter) on co-pilot side of panel.  Likely Brittain Accu-Flite install will have to wait.  I have all components.  The DG with bug will go in a back-up vacuum powered horizon.  This is a VFR panel.  The visualization of complete vs. reality and waiting are tough...Should be "mine" when complete.  Here's fingers crossed for an uneventful first annual....lol.  Right.

Well shoot.  Unfortunately because of the footprint of the Aera 795, my plan to panel mount on co-pilot side (primarily for use by my co-pilot wife) is NOT going to happen.  I have it listed on Ebay right now if anyone is in the market.  I have the perfect footprint area already cut for a 660 with Air Gizmo so THAT will be plan "B".
