I Know Nothing About Garmin Stuff But I Have a Question-

I have a new neighbor at the airport who just bought a 172 (his first flying lesson is Monday)!!!

The airplane is a good one with a Garmin panel,  2 Aspens and a Garmin autopilot w/ G5 

His second nav/com is a G 255   

When it lights up the self test comes back as Comm Failure on the screen.

How does one get Garmin radios fixed? 

Do they go back to Garmin  or what?

Best to take it to a Garmin dealer. They may have seen the problem before and know how to fix it. Or, they have access to Garmin field service engineering techs that can help troubleshoot. Or, perhaps it is in warranty and they can get it replaced. Worst case it goes back to Garmin for a fixed rate repair.
