BlueMoon Posted April 25, 2023 Report Posted April 25, 2023 We are working to restore a 1970 M20C that has been sitting for several years. The fuel selector screen is shot because there was water sitting in the strainer. We ordered a 10543-1 replacement screen from Aircraft Spruce, but the inner diameter of the screen appears to be too small. The package has both 10543-1 and 10543-2 part numbers on it. Did I get the improper screen or is the new screen a really tight fit? Quote
Vance Harral Posted April 25, 2023 Report Posted April 25, 2023 It's a pretty tight fit, but hard to say whether you got the wrong part without pictures. All I can say is that when I've replaced that screen, the inner diameter portion of the screen always winds up slightly "flared" after pressing it around the structure of the selector. Quote
tankertoad Posted August 9, 2024 Report Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) I am also having trouble sourcing this screen. In the past, the part # was 10543-1 and the inner diameter was larger. Now Spruce has it listed as 10543-2 (mfr#) and 10543-1 (Spruce Part#) that has a .50" inner diameter, which I think is the 10543-2. The real McCoy (10543-1) can't be found anywhere. I think the supplier made the change/mistake. I called Spruce: they have no clue. I called Lasar and it sounds like they are able to source it by modifying the screen with the smaller inner diameter to a larger diameter that correctly fits the Dukes 3331 gascolator. @Alan Fox they are backordered, but they have my request to get a couple sent out as soon as they get them.
