  2. The one piece exposes the center tube thats part of the steel cage, though doesn't it? I guess it would depend on how much clearance you have between the glass and the tube... the more sloped windshields give enough space to be able to reach up and grab the tube when sliding your seat forward...I'm not sure about the shorter windshields.
  3. Depends on what type of windscreen you have: It’s made to clamp to the steel tube that runs down the middle of the windscreen on the J-style sloped windshields.
  4. I fab’d this from Ram Mount parts while waiting on a set of used Rosens to pop up. Clamps right to the round center post on later-model Mooneys. Includes visors (a little crazed), but any visor with a 90-degree top corner should fit. $100 shipped to the lower 48.
  5. I have a Reliefband Premier I use to ride rollercoasters and intense simulator rides with the kids at the house of mouse. I can't speak for the other types of electronic bands available on Amazon, but the one I have is very effective at blocking the nausea response I would normally get from these rides.
  6. Seems like it has been a while since we heard any updates on the MX155. Nothing has changed their website. Does anyone have any insider info on the progress of this radio?

  8. I use D-sized medical bottles with oxygen conserver regulators and standard cannulas. It's an affordable way to get O2 in the plane, 1 system per person. The challenge with any oxygen these days, is finding FBOs that have O2 (if you go with an "aviation" system), or a medical supply house that will fill (if you go with a medical system) w/o a script. I've had some luck with welding shops (it's the same oxygen, they just don't pull a vacuum on the bottle before filling). I ended up buying a trans-fill adapter and renting an oxygen tank from the welding shop and filling my own bottles. You'll get what ever pressure is in the fill tank (usually 1500-1800 psi), but with larger bottles and conserver regulators, they will last the duration of most trips (I do carry a couple MH AL-180 aviation tanks on some trips in case I get stuck needing a little extra from the FBO). There are charts online that will help you estimate your usage, but I suggest you do some shorter flights to see how much you will actually use. Also, keep one of those portable pulse/Ox monitors in the plane - it will help take any guesswork out of knowing your saturation levels at altitude.
  9. When ADS-B was mandated, I swapped my old Garmin 150 for a GNX375. It (sort of) drove my STEC40 autopilot, but really didn't wake up until I added a pair of G5's. The GI 275s were tempting, but not worth the added cost for the functionality I was looking for. I really just wanted the reliability/redundancy of having two digital ADIs (HSI display can be switched), an HSI vs DG (HSI is slaved to the GPS), and GPSS for the autopilot. Yes, they aren't the most aesthetic, but sitting in the pilot seat you don't notice it. Flush mounting would have required a ton of extra labor and relocation of gauges and switches. If I could give one gripe, I wish Garmin would approve the expanded HSI scale that the experimental version has, but overall am very happy with the functionality the G5 installation gave me. I also added the GAD13 (using the Davtron temp probe) for TAS and wind speed/vector. I also saved a few pounds by removing my vacuum system and my oil filter is much easier to get to. Win-win.

For me, the two big selling points on the SureFly are: 1 - it was time to replace both mags and my SoS, so the cost on a discounted SureFly was a wash. 2 - Lycoming is putting the same mag (w/o timing advance) on factory new engines. Time will tell if the claims for better LOP fuel burn are true, but even a moderate savings will add up.

  12. Do you have a part number on the slick harness you used? I have the A1A w/Bendix mags and am putting a SureFly on.
  13. Mine finally gave up the ghost even after doing the taping procedure. I'm leaning the direction of the A2295-5P instead of welding.
  14. Patrick - What did you end up doing on your bulkhead? I'm running in to the same problem on mine (75F, Mod Works Trophy 2 blade spinner - Mooney part#680031-515) and looking for a replacement or to get mine welded. - TT
  15. I have the Mac's cabin and Bruce's tail cover. The wing/stab covers would mostly be used in advance of a forecasted snow/frost event to save time if a planned departure was required. For the spinner, I have one of Don's "prop pasties" and I stand the prop vertical - does a good job keeping water out. I lay rubber sink drain covers (from the hardware store) over the fuel caps to keep water from collecting/freezing.
  16. Does anyone have the wing and stab covers offered by MAC's (airplane-covers.com)? I'm looking to order a set for winter, but they don't have any pics on their website for the Mooney, and I'm interested to see how well they fit.   17. Thanks ! Fortunately, my factory is working, just need the one going to the JPI. I think the 14mm size is the best guess (18mm under spark plug, 3/8 for Tanis) for what will fit under the factory TC. Cheers!
  18. Also - the M-113 come in either 14mm or 18mm diameter.
  19. Ordered a new bayonet probe for my EDM 800 because the #4 died, and assumed the factory was on #3. Open my cowl to find it on #4. Im pretty sure I need the gasket style from JPI, but there are two listed on Spruce (M-113, M-113-3/8)...anyone know which one I need? (IO-360 A1A) - TT
