Oklahoma Mooney Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 Can anyone tell me what this feature is on the right side of the nose gear assembly (1963 M20D converted to retract) and why later models don't have it? Thank you.
Andy95W Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 That is where the old shock absorber was mounted. There is a Service Instruction that allows for its removal. On later models, they didn’t even bother putting the mounting hole on the nose gear.
EricJ Posted April 18, 2023 Report Posted April 18, 2023 I think that's the top mount for the shock absorber, which wound up not doing anything so they've been removed from most airplanes. Looked for a pic of one with it mounted but can't find one at the moment.
