Joshua Blackh4t Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 I bought a brand new second hand set of wing root fairings to go on my E model. My mechanic said he didn't want to fit them without any paperwork, so I contacted Lasar who said they could identify them and sell me the STC. However, they said they weren't Lasar parts and had no idea who would have made them. They are reasonable quality fibreglass but no numbers or identifiers. Can anyone identify who might have made them? Thanks, Joshua Quote
Andy95W Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 I can’t help with your question, but I can say that I put the LASAR wing root fairings on my last Mooney and they did nothing for the airplane. Frankly, even after painting, they didn’t even add any esthetic value (to me). Good luck with your search. Quote

It’s my opinion that there is significant drag between the wing and fuselage on a Mooney that could be reduced with “proper” fairings. However it would make it a real bear to get into and out of the airplane, so without seriously degrading cockpit access there just isn’t much we could do. Quote
Fritz1 Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 I put Lasar wing root fairings on my G-model way back when, hard to tell what they really did, I think they reduced stall speed, maybe gained .5 kt in cruise, these do not look like they were made by Lasar, maybe molded off Lasar part, you could install them as owner provided part or buy a set with the STC from Lasar, overall they can't hurt, weight probably 1 lb combined, think they even look good, best done before you paint the airplane Quote
