I know how to block users on a computer but not an iPad.

Every once in awhile I'll override the "ignore" on one of his posts just to see if I misjudged him . . .  nope.

To block users on a mobile device click on the “hamburger” icon at the top right of the mooneyspsce page, then go to “account”, then to “ignored users” and add the name to block.
thank goodness…

some folks are just toxic.

My 231 is due in August. I called and they quoted me a price of 3800.00.

That is what I just paid for an annual for my 231 at an MSC.

Was there any extra work, replacement parts etc.? In other words, was the completed annual 3800.00 or just the basic annual?

This is my first foray into airplane ownership and my first annual, but my understanding is that the basic annual is just the inspection and that realistically I can expect to pay much more than the basic.

It's not unusual for a shop to quote a flat rate for the inspection, and then any repairs or parts will be additional.

My mag inspection alone was more than 3k, and invoiced with this year's annual inspection :/

That is certainly consistent with my understanding.

My $0.02:

A proper inspection is 20 hours or a bit more. Figure $125 to $150 shop rate and you are at $2500 to $3500. Now, add repairs.

I flew to Kerrville last October in hopes of solving an issue I had been having for over 2 years.  I discussed going down there with my local MSC and they thought it was a good idea.  The Service Center at Mooney in Kerrville found the problem almost immediately because the issue was related to a solved problem of 30 years ago and the mechanic remembered the problem, since he had been there during that period of time.  My excellent local MSC was happy I went down there, learned something from my trip, and were the ones to ultimately implement the fix with parts Mooney still had in inventory.

Mike Kneeze and his crew were outstanding, and I highly recommend them.

I think the factory calls it 24 hours flat rate but I can’t do it in less than 30. But I use the whole checklist to. I’ve read a lot of log entries and very rarely do they say accomplished the Mooney hour/annual inspection checklist, they say they referenced the checklist and used FAR part 43(d) which are not the same things.

Agree that 20 hours is on the low side.  My last annual I was invoiced for 25 hours, and they performed the complete Mooney checklist.

Four man days of labour plus basic consumables would not be unrealistic for a thorough 100 hour /annual inspection on a K model.  Then it will go up depending on what the inspection reveals.

Torry, I went to Dugosh Aviation MSC for my first annual.  The factory across the runway was not doing annuals at the time.  Dugosh was $2100 for annual plus oil and filter.  You will have catchup items from the previous owner you will want to fix / add new items as I did. plus new items that broke along the way to my first annual.  After overhaul of the starter adaptor, surefly install, new mag harness for both, overhauled the mag, fix leading edge paint issues and cowl, new left tire that was flat spotted and new donut disks for the main gear and wing weep under the step mat, new gami injectors to match flow. jpi fuel flow addition and 6 weeks down time it came out to $12k so just be prepared.

At a shop rate of around $100 per hour, they aren’t spending a lot of time on the inspect portion of the annual.

Yea this annual was before inflation and pricing going through the roof. Labor rate was $75/hr at that time, so I’m sure it’s gone up since then.
