Photos tell the story.  When lowered, right gear door rubs on the spindle assembly.  When raised the gear door just touches the underside of the wing.   Left main adjustment is different, but also closes nicely when the gear are raised.

I see no damage to the spindle, but the aluminum reinforcing stringer on the gear door is wearing.    I"m thinking as a temporary measure to apply some 3M 5421 tape to the site to mitigate wear on the gear door?   It seems that the right main is not going up in the wheel well quite as far as the left main by about 1/2" according to the adjustment of the gear door.  Sounds like a good task for a MSC?

I had to replace an over-center link when I had this issue a few years ago.  Too much wear and basically lost full travel while trying to stay in spec with the downlock torque.

What happened?  Had one or more of the holes become egg-shaped?  I've got an annual coming up in April.   I'll raise that issue.

I suppose that wear on several parts could cause that problem?

Best I could tell, most of the wear was at the over-center joint.  To keep the tension, I was adjusting it annually.  I suspect the surface hardness was worn through.  Then, the gear won’t go up as far.  Eventually I couldn’t get the door to close tight.  I have a set of links from a K that are like new, but they wouldn’t work on my 64E.  Not sure what models they would work on. I ended up finding some used ones from one of the salvage guys.

Rob, with reference to the parts manual, which part did you replace?  I don't see the part labeled "overcenter link" Thx- Fred

Also check the bell crank where the travel/movement from the Johnson bar rods turn 90 degrees and go to the over center link.  My A model actually allows for an adjustment that fixed a similar problem on my aircraft (way back when).    I also installed a rubber strip to prevent wear from the gear on the door stiffener.  Wish I had a photo ..
