Recently installed a JPI 900 in my 1983 M20J. Need recommendations for Florida shop that can install the CIES fuel senders. If you've recently undergone this installation, please include installation hrs/cost.

Thanks

I can’t speak to what a shop will charge but can speak about the amount of time it took me and an IA friend to do it. I created this CiES resource thread to help. On page 5 I wrote up the time it took us to install the senders. It should give you a ball park on the amount of time a shop will take to do it. Hope it helps.

In 2018 I did a total rip out of the panel in my 64C  I had the JPI900 installed and requested that I have new CIES senders installed and calibrated.  I have had many issues with my shop and corrected most of them with someone else for a ton of $$ but lets keep on point with just this one.

So just about a month ago I start smelling a strong avgas smell in the cockpit.  After I pulled the side interior panels down I found the following on both sides in the picture.  I am thinking WTF?  I called CIES and they saw the pictures as well and told me they never had any sender do that.  That they were installed improperly.

When installing them they have a max torque per screw of something like 15-20lbs of torque.  Mine had been way over torqued.  Also my mechanic noticed that there was fuel lube all over the gasket.  CIES said that is a big NO NO.  They are to be installed as is.  You can see some residue.

Do not have these done at a shop in the Daytona area....nuff said....

They charged me 445 dollars per unit at the time and labor was bundled into the 48k bill,,I had a lot done.

We ended up cleaning up the mess as best as we could and taking each screw out one by one and using an approved goop for the fix and so far so good.
