S-TEC 30 autopilot installed in 1985 Mooney M20J per STC April 2013; removed November 2021 as part of avionics upgrade.

Includes turn coordinator / autopilot controller, servos, all other hardware.

This autopilot was installed when I bought the plane in 2017. It performed well for me in the four years I flew it. It's not the cosmic digital autopilot that you can get from Garmin or Genesis now, but I could have lived with it for as long as I owned the plane. I had it linked to an Aspen and GNS 430W. It tracked the magenta line nicely, whether enroute or approaches (lateral component), or published holds.

STCs and STec go way back…

I think what Brent is saying… he bought the STC for his plane to allow for the installation….

A reminder for the new owner to check on this particular detail if interested…

PP guessing only, not trying to disturb an MSer from selling a good AP…

Best regards,

I think he's saying it was installed in April 2013, removed November 2021.  November 2013 being the typo.

Thanks Zulu!

Soo many numbers to keep track of in my head… looks like I hit my limit…. :)

It’s a pretty powerful AP for a really good hardware price…. Too…

This looks interesting, I'm just doing some research, do you know if there is an STC for an M20E and if it can be driven from an Aera 660?
It looks prettier than the Tru Trak we cant even get
Thanks

You have to get the STC from manufacturer which will cost money and can’t be driven by 660 in a certified airplane. To me this is only good for someone who already has a 30 and wants spare parts for future repairs.
By the time you pay for STC and install, you’re getting close to a GFC 500.

The ones being pulled out are keeping the ones installed still in the air at a reasonable price.

However spending the money to do a new install with a used autopilot doesn't make any financial sense. The labor could even be more than on a new one since you'll run into some snags, but at the very least it will be the same as installing a new one. The new one will have a warranty and the prospect of lasting for years without changing out servos, computers, etc. Plus you'll have all of the newer features.

So someone with a Mooney who has an STEC30 who plans on keeping it alive should snag these parts.

Yeah, typo. Sorry, folks. Removed November 2021.

Hello,
I only want to know if the autopilot system is still available because I'm looking for any autopilot for our 1981 Mooney J and yours could be perfect for us. Probably it's already sold ...

best regards

Since the title says SOLD, I'd go with that.
