I recently bought N78925 which is an M20C serial 2037.   To my surprise, this airplane is not equipped with the push-button on the wheel "Positive Control" system.  Later Mooneys have slightly different shaped trailing edges on the aileron and the loved/hated PC system.  Does anyone know what serial number began the factory installation of the PC system?

Are you saying you don’t have the PC system or don’t have the PC disconnect? At some point my PC button was moved from the yoke to a panel mounted switch.

No, my airplane does not appear to have the PC system at all.   The trailing edges of the ailerons are different form later models too.

It would be a good thing to add your year model to your profile.  It will save people the bother of looking it up to find out.

My first Mooney was a 1963 C model and it too had no PC.  I fully expect that no PC was factory installed in your 1962 aircraft.

There is a Cessna autopilot that connects to the control column that could be inexpensively added to an early C model.  Mr. Presley in Tennessee who handles lots of salvage gear told me about it and then I hurt my shoulder forcing me to get a plane with electric gear so I never pursued it.

According to this chronology, Mooney Model Chronology (mooneyevents.com), 1965 was the first year where the PC was listed as an installed item.  The serial number that began this year is listed as 2807.

And the ailerons were changed at that time.  The older style, the control forces were too much for the PC to overcome.  Many older airplanes had the PC installed later but had the newer ailerons added.
