Cost is a factor but not the only factor.  We went with the Donaldson.  One of the reasons was no oil to mess with.  Here's a link to a video that talks about all three filters:

Air Filter Comparison

At about 4:20, they have a graph showing the difference in airflow restriction.  I did a little math, and for an IO360 at 2500 RPM, we are sucking in about 260 CFM.  Keep that in mind when you look at the graph.

With the construction being done on your field I would consider changing out your filter at shorter intervals due to the increased dust and dirt, if you have the Challenger filter, then I would recommend cleaning that more often. when I put my Challenger filter on i considered all the factors and compared cost, the challenger filter cost me the same as the brackett filters would over the life of the Challenger filter.

I know this is a necro thread, but I had to weigh in.

This is exactly 180 degrees out of how these filters work.

When they are freshly cleaned, they are the most porous and pass the most air.  And the most dirt.

As the filter loads, the passages become more blocked, so they restrict the airflow and also allow less dirt through.

In the auto world, tests have shown that a new paper air filter flows almost as well as a K&N, and filters better.

I ditched my K&N filter after several years of recharging it annually (cleaning and re-oiling). I recall Clarence made mention of them becoming more porous with age. Plus my Silicone was going up so i switched back to paper on a 500 schedule - which has helped.
