V1VRV2 Posted October 14, 2021 Report Posted October 14, 2021 I’ve got a commercial flight out of EWR and we are taking the Mooney from home to make the flight out of EWR. Should I fly into TEB instead of EWR or just go to EWR. If we fly into TEB I would Uber over to EWR. About a 20 minute ride. I will be getting a hangar for 5 days. No fuel. Quote
cferr59 Posted October 14, 2021 Report Posted October 14, 2021 I've never been into EWR, but TEB has a ton of FBOs so you will have a lot more options there. EWR has Signature. I would call both and find out the cost, factor in the Uber cost and apply a factor for the convenience of being at the same airport. I think I used Meridian last time I was at TEB but I don't remember the cost. Also, it is more likely to be a 30 minute ride considering traffic. 1 Quote
81X Posted October 14, 2021 Report Posted October 14, 2021 LDJ is probably closer to EWR and you can probably avoid more vehicle traffic. won’t be cheap, but probably less expensive than keeping a Mooney at EWR or TEB. 1 Quote
Eduleo Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 I'm in NJ often, usually once a week. Linden, Caldwell, and Morristown are all good, cheaper options to Teterboro, and all within a 30 minute drive from Liberty International. If going to TEB I always use Meridian FBO. Good service for us little guys, much cheaper than Signature. They helped me a few times when I needed it, cleaning a fowled spark plug on a Sunday night, and letting me use a crew car for an extended period of time when my rental didn't show up. TEB used to be $21 landing fee + $57 a day to park outside by Meridian. CDW is a $10 landing fee, a $25 ramp fee, and $20 a night. I was there yesterday. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 Linden is under/near the class bravo shelf… NJ transit has a train nearby…. Not too challenging to get to Newark’s tram system… Ask @201er about KLDJ… it’s his home drome…. If using Uber, it is conveniently close… Next closer, Caldwell has the lesser known of the two MSCs in Jersey… kind of distant for getting to KEWR Morristown is nice… used to be the home port for BK (Honeywell/Allied signal) and Exxon… too far away to make sense… KTEB is all about corporate jets connecting into NYC… can get crazy around big game days… Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
neilpilot Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 When visiting family in NJ, MMU & CDW we’re equidistant. For a while, MMU was my usual stop. I switched to CDW when all but one FBO at MMU stopped selling avgas. 1 Quote
