We have the cable going to the GNS530, but not regularly seeing traffic shown on our GNS530.  What are steps to do this?  Aera is in the cradle connected directly to glarescreen mounted GDL39.  Traffic ALWAYS shows up on my yoke mounted mini by Bluetooth, but the Aera and 530 don’t always show.  I can’t figure out what I am not doing.  Thanks for help...

The certified device (Garmin 530) will never show TIS-B traffic from your uncertified device (Aera and GDL39). However the Garmin 530 might sometimes show TIS-A traffic if you have a Garmin GTX-330 transponder, but this has nothing to do with your Aera or GDL39. TIS-A is only around busier airports - it's fed from Mode S transponders.

The cable between the two devices is just to crossfill flight plans.

Ahhhhh, that makes perfect sense.  We have the 330ES transponder.  I didn’t think it should show, but “it did”.  Can’t remember circumstances, but must of been near a larger airport.  Thanks for clearing that up.

The fact that you have the 330ES instead of just the 330 (Extended Squitter 1090ES ADS-B out) is why you always get it (ADS-B in) on the iPad Mini hooked up to the GDL39.

Ya, I’m a dummy (GNS530), but that tool (330ES for ADSB compliance/weather and traffic) I had in my shed :)

I now just need to figure out why the Aera 660 is NOT consistently painting traffic when my iPad is...That is my co-pilot wife’s gadget to “play with” while we fly...I think I am the one that is going to need to do a little more diggin’ there though.  Thanks again Lance.

I have a GDL 52R and I have it send the traffic to an Aera 660.  The traffic from the 330 ES has always been intermittent to the 430 but I don’t need it to show up there.

Again the only traffic from the GTX330ES (since it is only ADS-B out, not in) is TIS-A* traffic near larger airports. This capability has been around nearly 20 years from a Mode S transponder.

TIS-B traffic (ADS-B) is not going to be sent from your GTX330ES to your Garmin 430.

You need another set of twisted pair from the 330ES to the GNS (airinc I think I recall), besides the GPS signal on ADSB+ to get tis-a traffic on the GNS.  TIS-A is limited to radar coverage some busy terminal areas.

for the 660, you can only get TIS-B (ADSB) traffic from a Bluetooth source (think GDL 39, 88, GTX 345) or hardwired from a GDL 39/52/88
